Chapter 33: Winners of the Day

'You!', they both yelled.

Katherine couldn't believe her eyes. Was it true? Her best friend slash boyfriend was standing in front of her. He was going to be her partner.

"Why did you lie to me?", Robert asked her.

"Is that how you welcome someone after meeting them for two years?", Katherine questioned him.

"We will talk later! Now we need to win this competition! Let's go to the stage!", Robert took Katherine's hand and both of them ran up to the stage. They were knocking into people but it didn't matter to them, at least.

As soon as they reached the stage, the dean began to cheer for them.

"Wow! Here I got my first pair! If I'm not wrong you are Robert Robinson right?", the dean asked.

"Yes I am!", Robert answered proudly, still holding on Katherine's hand.

"And may I know who is this young beautiful lady next to you?", the dean asked Robert.

"Oh hi! I'm Katherine, Katherine D'Cruz!", Katherine gave her best smile and held onto Robert's hand much more tightly.

"Oh my! Both of you are partners! Great to know that!", dean smiled.

They began to have a light conversation with each other. On the other side, Jacqueline found her partner. She also ran up to the stage with her partner. It was Christopher, but she obviously didn't know.

"Dean! Count us too!", Jacqueline yelled at the top of her voice.

Ryan as well as Jeremy found their partners as well but they were not counted in.

After 10 minutes, the dean announced the top 3 winners of the "competition".

"Students! All of you seem to have had lots of fun. I have 3 winners today. Coming in third place is Janice Blake and William Roy! Please give them a round of applause.", everyone began to clap for them. They had a bright smile on their face.

"In second place, we have Jacqueline Kennings and Christopher Roff. Please give them a round of applause.", the dean continued.

Jacqueline began to wave her hands like a little girl to Jeremy and was squealing for happiness. Jeremy was shouting for his girlfriend. He seriously does love her a lot!

"Last but not least, we have our winners of the day! They are, Robert Robinson and Katharine D'Cruz!", Ryan was shouting happily. His best friend was there, with her boyfriend standing next to each other holding their hands. This was what Katherine always wanted.

"Quite down, all of you! Now, we are going to have an hour and a half break. During this break you are to meet new friends and have a small meal. As soon as we are done with the break, we will proceed to our class. Is that clear?", the dean asked.

They all left the hall together but Robert pulled Katherine away from the scene. He took her to an isolated place in the school. It was now them, alone. He pushed her slightly and lightly towards the wall.

She placed her hands on his shoulders and pulled him closer towards him. He placed his hands on her hips. He gave a slight brush on her nose before looking at her.

"I missed you so much babe!", Robert whispered into her ears and have a light kiss on it.

He then trailed kisses down her neck and her shoulder. He pulled the sleeve of her shirt slightly so as to kiss her. Katherine was feeling nervous as this was the first time he was doing all that to her. She pulled his hair and that caught his attention. He stopped whatever he was doing and looked at her.
