Chapter 20: Broken hearts

Today was going to a great day for Katherine. No school. No stress. She was finally going to sleep. She was on her bed sleeping peacefully. Her exquisite face had a beautiful smile.

At that moment Robert slammed the door opened and was about to yell but after seeing how Katherine was sleeping, he closed the door slowly and tip toed to Katherine.

As soon as he reached to her bed, he sat at the edge of the bed and began to tuck the loose strands of her hair behind her ears. Robert kept smiling at how she was sleeping.

'How am I going to tell you that... I wonder how are you going to react...', Robert was whispering to himself and playing with Katherine's hair. His hands were tangled with hers.

Robert came to her room to wake her up but after seeing her sleeping peacefully he didn't feel like waking her up. He immediately woke up and was about to leave when Katherine's hand held him.

'I think you don't want me to leave without waking you up but I'll do it...'

He sat at the same spot and leaned close to her. He began to blow in her ears. Her smile got brighter and brighter.

In Katherine's mind, she was wondering if she was dreaming and then she realize that...

Oh no

Her smile disappeared and she came back to reality. She woke up and was about to sit up when her ear got a kiss from Robert.

It was him.

'Good morning...'

She nearly got a shock! She was thinking what was he doing in her room?

'What... are you doing...'

Before she could continue, he cut her.

'I wanted to ask you if we could go out today?'

'But it's so early! You could have let me sleep a little longer!'

'Kat! It's already 11am. How long more you want to sleep? I've already taken a shower and had breakfast... Why don't you go and take a shower and then we will talk...'

Katherine just nodded her head and chased him out of her room while she went to take a shower.

Robert walked to his room lost in his thoughts. He didn't even realize that he actually knocked into Pamela accidentally.

'Robert? What's wrong? Watch where you are going.'

'Sorry aunt Pam... I've a small problem...'

'Maybe I can help you? Come let's sit.'

Both Robert and Pamela sat down. Robert began his story from the start and told the entire problem.

'Oh I see son... So you don't want to tell her yet right?'

'Yup... But what can I do so that I could break the news to her and she wouldn't be mad with me as well?'

'I have a terrific plan!', Pamela smirked and began to tell her entire plan to Robert.

Once they were done Robert looked into Pamela's eyes.

'Do you think it will work?', Robert questioned Pamela.

'Robert... Trust me! I know my daughter very well... After this plan she wouldn't be disappointed with you and she will happily accept the fact!'

'Thanks aunt Pamela! You indeed helped me a lot! I was getting nervous and I had no idea at that point. But do you think uncle John will say anything if he finds out... I mean he's a father and a father wouldn't want to see his daughter in pain and he might not forgive me and all that...'

'If he loved his daughter he wouldn't have done that...', the smile disappeared from Pamela's face.

'What happen? I heard a little from Katherine but if you don't mind, could I hear it from you?'

Pamela smiled at Robert and stood up. She asked Robert to follow her and he listened to her and followed her quietly. She brought Robert up to the rooftop and asked him to sit down.

'John nearly spoiled my daughter's life. My Katherine is still 17 and a few months ago, John wanted her to marry his business partner's son so that the business relations will become better. I actually didn't want that to happen. Firstly, Katherine was so young and secondly, she was still dying to meet you even though she claimed that she hated you. I talked to John many times that he was doing something wrong and we will lose out daughter after this. I even told him that we were not living in the olden days where girls were married off at a young age. Katherine should be having a say but... He didn't listen to anyone. Even Mark and Daisy explained to him a lot but John... He was stubborn and stayed out with his decision. But when I told him that I would divorce him if he forced Katherine to marry him he backed out. He cancelled the entire plan and blamed Katherine for whatever lost. John was never close to Katherine nor Katherine was close to him. They can pretend in front of everyone that they had a close father daughter relationship but at home everything opposites happen. Ever since I got my heart attack, both of them became close to each other. Katherine was angry with John but she never showed to us....'

Pamela was tearing already and Robert woke up from his seat and went to comfort her.

'I never told your parents about this before but today I'm telling you because I trust you and I don't want you to break my daughter's heart.'

'I promise you aunt Pam! I will never do anything that will break her heart. I promise....'

'Well, I think it's time to execute the plan then!'

Both of them laugh happily and began to execute the plan.
