Winter break, finally.
The brisk winter air was harsh, but knowing you were halfway done senior year was worth every frigid drive. But for now you're done for the year, you lay back on your bed. You just put on the new vinyl you bought from the record store and you were ready to relax.
Feeling yourself melt into your comforter, the soft fabric hugging you tight as you prepare to sleep break away..
"Y/N!! You home?! I need a ride to the ice rink!!" Your twin sister, Robin yells from outside your bedroom, startling you out of your zen state. You take a deep breath to push down all of the things you could say, standing to walk to your door. Without warning Robin invites herself in, seemingly oblivious about interrupting you. "Cool, you're not doing anything! Let's go!" She chimes happily as you stand there, less than impressed.
"Robin, I am not driving you there! I have driven you everywhere since break started!" You huff as you cross your arms at her. On the dime Robin changes her tone to mopey and dramatic, flying herself onto the bed. "But y/n! Everyone is going! Please?!" She whines as you stare down at her.
"No." You say plainly.
"Come on, y/n. It's not fair that I brag about a twin sister that no one ever gets to see!" Robin protests as she sits up to look at you.
"You know how I feel about your friends, Robin-"
"One! You hate one of my friends!" She snaps back. "I know Eddie was an asshole to you, but I swear he's different. Even if you don't want to be civil with him, you'd love Nancy, Steve, everyone." Her voice calmer as she persuades you.
With a groan you turn away from Robin, grabbing your winter coat. "Get to the car." You mutter as she hops up in celebration, running to get her boots.
It was true, you rejected all of Robin's friends because of one.

Eddie was once the person you thought you'd have in your life forever.
Friends since childhood, loved the same music, hung out every day, but it was obvious your feelings for him were much greater than friends. After telling Robin, she seemed so excited to make this work, egging you on to tell him.
"Just say it! Go up and say it! I swear to you he'd feel the same!" She would say as you whispered to one another in the hallway. After many, many conversations about how and when, you finally mustered up the courage. So after school one day you decided to tell Eddie how you felt.
The one thing you guys only did with one another was sit at the top of an abandoned school on the outskirts of Hawkins. It was the best place to hang out alone, it was yours and Eddie's secret spot.
One night you guys climbed all the way to the roof, Eddie laid out his jacket so you didn't have to sit on the dirty roof. Your favorite thing was to sneak some of Wayne's beer and a few cigarettes, and just drink and smoke till he walked you home. You tried acting casual, but your heart felt like it was going to burst.
"Listen, Eddie.." You said as you looked over at him, his soft brown eyes meeting yours as he took a small drag from the cigarette. "I wanted to talk to you about something." You said as you toyed with the beer bottle in your hand.
"Okay, you got my attention." Eddie said wittily, making you giggle. "We've been best friends for a really long time, and we don't keep secrets.." You start, he nods as if to tell you to keep going.
"But I have one, I've had it for a while." Your breath was uneasy as your body felt like it was racing.
"I like you, like, more than a friend, Eddie." You finally said, waiting for the response you weren't sure you even wanted.
