Ivy couldn't believe that Ravka was running out of money. She felt awful, but at the same time she felt relieved. If war makes its way to the capital, she could easily slip away.

They'll be too busy worrying about the palace, about the King, to worry about a small Moon Summoner.

"You honestly don't have to follow me," Ivy reminded the guards. "I'm not going anywhere."

They ignored her. Just like the other times.

Ivy walked deeper into the palace, trying to find anything remotely interesting. At first, this place was amazing to look at. But after walking the halls more times than counted, everything blurred together.

It wasn't until Ivy heard footsteps. She stopped in her spot, waiting to see who it was. Even if it was the King, she wouldn't be too upset. But when a man with black hair and the height of a tower came into view, she realized that it was the person she was waiting for all along.

"Anton?" Ivy calls.

Anton stops in his tracks. He turns around to see Ivy. His gaze flickers to the guards a couple feet behind her. His face became unreadable.

"Ivy," he nodded.

Ivy shook off the strange feeling and walked closer to him. His eyes follow something from the back.

"What are you doing here?" Ivy whispered.

"Trying to save you," Anton whispered back. His gaze finally leveled with hers.

"Where's your mother?"

"She didn't dare come. Left her when she was asleep."

"She's going to murder you once she finds out."

"I'll be fine."

The two went silent, not daring to speak about more pressing issues with guards only a few feet behind.

Ivy couldn't handle the awkward silence anymore. She pulled Anton in for a hug. Holding him, never wanting to let go. Only when the guards shuffled behind her did she finally let him go.

"I thought they would've killed you," Anton said.

"I honestly did too. But it turns out they need me for their gain."

"Not for long."

I wanted to ask him more about his statement, but the doors to the main room opened. Taking Anton's attention with it.

"The King will see you," a guards voice echoes.

Anton gave Ivy a half hearted smile before walking into the main room. Ivy's heart thundering in her chest.

What is he planning?

Ivy followed after Anton.
