The afternoon came before Artie could get most of her problems solved. Kir was with his mother. It was part of their plan. A plan that was dangerous but could save so many Grisha lives.

It all started when Artie came across a book in the palace. A book based on legends and Saints.

Kir is asking his mother for more details, for Artie and Kir know there is truth behind every Saint, every legend.

"Look," Garvil calls to Artie.

She turns to see he was creating a dust tornado. His small science was getting better by the day.

"Amazing, Garvil," Artie smiled.

Her son helped take her mind off the anxiety that courses through her blood. Marei isn't the nicest. If she manipulated Kir into telling her the full truth as to his questions, she would shut down. Ignore his questions and pleads.

But Artie couldn't think of that. She had to trust Kir. He was smart. Manipulative himself - a tactic mastered by watching his mother.

"Let's get some food," Artie said to Garvil. His attention snapped at the idea of getting food. He loved food.

The sun was setting when Artie finally got a glimpse of Kir and Marei. Kir didn't look happy, whereas Marei just looked upset. Her stubborn nature showing through.

Kir didn't say anything to Artie and Garvil as he passed. Marei only scoffed and headed towards her room.

"Why don't you keep Marei company," Artie stated to Garvil.

"Do I have too?" he complained.

"Yes. Now go."

Garvil dragged his feet but walked towards Marei's room. Artie waits for him to walk inside before following after Kir.

He was bent over a table. His eyes scanning the contents.

"She won't tell us anything," he snapped. "Why must my mother be so stubborn?"

"What did you ask her?" Artie asks.

"I asked what she knew about Morozova's power. She refused to answer."

"We need those secrets."

"You don't think I know that?" Kir snapped.

"Don't go snapping at me," Artie said strongly. "Not unless you want to lose an eye."

He shook his head and took a deep breath. "I hate my mother."

You can say that again.

"Let me talk to her," Artie said. She regretted saying those words the moment they left her mouth.

"What makes you think she will answer to you?" Kir asks.

"She may hate me, but I've learned a thing or two in my time."

Kir thought Artie's words over. Artie knew she would be able to squeeze some information out of Marei. Maybe not a lot, definitely not more then Kir. But it was worth a try.

"If she doesn't answer to you," Kir starts. "Then we might have to try other methods."

Artie agreed.
