Tonowari had gone to tell Jake and Neytiri about the attack, leaving Ronal alone with her eldest daughter. There was a tension that arose in the room.
"Where were you last night?" She asked, hand rubbing her belly.
Fei's heart sped up. She had forgotten for a moment what she had done before. What she came to say. "I fell asleep after looking for seashells. I didn't realize I was out until I woke up." She stepped closer to the pregnant woman. "Mother, my dream from all those years ago, it's true-"
"-You push the boundaries of truth and lies, Fei'uey." She cut the girl off. She turned around and stalked up to her, pointing a finger in her face. "First, you stay out late. Then, you come to me with that foolish dream!"
She stepped closer and snarled. "I act not as your mother, but as Tsahik. We do not know if it is real. There is no way to prove it. And I will not act upon a dream. I choose this village to protect."
"But-"
"I will not trust a daughter who is not fit to lead!" Ronal shouted. A frown was on her face. She was angry that Tonowari allowed the foreigners to stay on their island. She was angry that fellow islands had been burned and the people had been tortured for answers.
She was beyond angry. She wanted revenge.
Fei's eyes watered. Despite her best effort to keep a straight face and blink back tears, a stray one had fallen down her cheek. Then another, and another. She sniffled and opened her mouth, lip quivering.
"Everything I have done has been for you. For you to believe me when I tell you what I have seen." Fei bit her tongue and thought back to how perfect of a daughter she acted to be. All those years just to be called a liar. She exhaled through her nose and spoke of the soonest thing she had seen to convince the woman.
"Your spirit sister will be dead soon, along with her calf. When the time comes and I'm proven right, come find me. Unlike you, I will do everything I can to save this clan from the Sky People."
It was the way they had fed off of each others' anger. They were two counterparts, two of the same people. However, Fei did not hold anger in her heart. She chose what was best. She trusted instinct than rationality.
It was one of the many reasons why she would lead the Metkayina in a dutiful way.
The firstborn. The leader. The breaker of chains.
Every Na'vi would know the name of Fei'uey, a mighty warrior.
She marched out of the Marui, to which Ronal had let her. She passed Neteyam, who had stood outside on the side even in the sudden harsh weather. "Fei!" He called out. She didn't turn back. "Fei!" He grabbed her arm.
She kept her eyes on the ground as she turned to face him. She could have kept the act up until she reached solitude, but she had forgotten what had happened. They had mated for life. They were one person with the might of two. Fei looked up at him, tears still streaming out of her eyes like raindrops.
"Come."
She walked past him and continued her path. He trailed behind her, brows drawn together in concern. She had been a whirlwind of emotions.
They passed by the Marui of Jake and Neytiri, who had just been approached by a solemn looking Tonowari. The man turned his head to find his daughter already glaring at him.
Time moved slowly. There was a hint of resentment behind her eyes, wrapped with hatred and a nice big bow of pain on the top. It had made the man wonder what had happened to his little Fei for her to turn into an empty shell, a body with no soul.
She had gotten only so far until she turned back to face Neteyam and paced. "My dreams are correct," she whispered to the sand. Her head snapped up to meet his gaze. "I need you to believe me for what I am about to tell you."
He nodded and took her hand in his own to comfort her. To calm her from the rage she felt.
"My own mother doesn't believe me, Neteyam," she forced out, pointing a finger in the direction they had just came from. She shuffled back and forth from her two feet, the urge to scream and cry multiplying by the second. "You," she pointed to him. "You're my only hope. Please,"
He nodded, wiping the wet tears from her cheeks. "Yes, I- I will. Just tell me what is wrong,"
"Promise me," she pleaded.
"I promise," he assured. "I swear."
Through tsaheylu, she could share the memory. Grabbing his queue from behind his back, she connected it with her own as they were brought into the dream she had lived all those years ago.
this is a little short of a chapter, but the next one is totally worth it! i think it's gonna answer all the questions, but idk if i'm gonna tie everything together since there's so much stuff! i've had it planned for like two days, so bear with me.
this writing process is also going very fast, we're almost to the final battle which took like an hour of the movie lmao
