The storm had passed. Fei and Neteyam were sitting in the grove across from each other. A silence had settled between them.
Fei knew it was a lot to process for the boy. When she had first seen it, she couldn't understand what Eywa had been trying to tell her. She had her years to adapt to the memory—he didn't.
She took his hand in her own and pursed her lips. "Perhaps I showed you too much at once-"
"-No." He refused. "No, I needed to see it for myself." What he had been thinking about for so long was the girl. She had appeared in his vision and her dream. There was a bigger chance that she was real.
She backed away and settled down. Even if she knew he wouldn't run away, she was scared. "What are you thinking about?" She asked him after a pause.
He looked up at her and sighed, readjusting his position to lean closer. "How long have you known about the girl? The young one, Sylwanin?"
She shrugged. "She was one of the first things I saw when I was younger. Back then, I had just been her age. I just didn't expect her-"
"-To be your daughter?" He finished for her.
She scoffed. "Stop cutting in and let me finish my sentences, forest boy." A hint of a smile was on her face. One of the things she had learned to love about Neteyam was how easy he could make her happy.
"Okay," he surrendered, putting his hands up and leaning back. He thought back to the girl. "I saw her once, too."
Fei raised her brows at him. "You did?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "It was when you took me to those flowers on that rock. I heard her voice."
She shuffled. "Did you see her? Physically?"
He nodded again. "I also saw someone else," he whispered, leaning his face closer to hers. "I saw you, too. We were older, and you had a tattoo over your heart." He placed his hand in the same spot he had seen the ink on before.
Fei hadn't been phased by his touch. She had gotten used to the sparks she felt. "She is our daughter, Neteyam. Ours," She smiled at the thought. "Eywa blesses us with children."
"There's more?" He blurted.
She laughed. He must have forgotten the glimpse of her large belly while Sylwanin stood off to the side. "Yes," she bit her lip. "I think it will be a boy."
He grimaced. "We're too young to talk about children, Fei." He twirled a lock of her hair between his fingers, inching his face closer by the second. His lips grazed hers. "Let's save this talk for when we're older," he whispered.
Fei'uey kissed him back. It was a short one, for they had more to talk about. When she pulled away, the grim look on her face was back. "War is coming, didn't you see?" She took his hand between her own. "We must fight."
"I know," he sighed. "I just wish all of this could disappear-"
"-and we could have the chance to settle down together," she finished. She gave a teasing grin. "You, me, Sylwanin, and the boy. Just us,"
"Just us," he repeated, pressing another kiss to her lips.

But over with their parents, it hadn't been pretty.
Tonowari paced in their Marui, discussing Fei's claim in a hushed conversation. He hadn't agreed with the way Ronal had thought. "Maybe it is time we believe her."
"Why?" She snapped.
He let out a huff of exasperation. "She is older now. Her dreams are clearer. Eywa must be trying to tell us something!"
"No." She refused. "Not until her prediction comes true. Not until I see my spirit sister dead with my own eyes."
It was tense in the room. The man knew his mate could get harsh, but he hadn't known she had taken it out on their daughter. Much less for a little reason.
"You are hard on her, Ronal, do you understand?" He grunted, taking her hands in his and looking into her eyes. "I see you, my love. But you have to realize... Fei isn't a little girl anymore. She has a mind and a spirit. She is guided by the light."
"What if she was wrong, huh?" Ronal claimed in rebuttal. "Fine, you believe her, you put every drop of faith in a dream, and it's wrong. What would we do? What would the people do?"
Tonowari never liked it when she was right like this. Especially not when it came to their eldest daughter. He wanted to believe her so many times when she brought it up, but there was no proof. "What else did she say to you?"
The woman bit her tongue and reluctantly answered. "She said that when she turned out to be right, that she would still be willing to help. For the people,"
That was the soul that he remembered from when the girl was younger. He chuckled in a burst of pride. "She still wants to help, even after you scolded her. She is a true leader, my love, you have to see."
"She is guided by her heart." She pointed to the organ in his chest. "But a leader needs a brain." She tapped his forehead. He swiped her hand away and sighed.
"We will see when she does become a leader, who was right about it."
In another Marui, a different conversation took place.
"Did you see the way Neteyam was following that girl, Neytiri?" He asked the woman while sharpening his knife. "Isn't she Tonowari and Ronal's eldest?"
They had been past the threat made when the new Quaritch burned down homes on another island. Now, it was an awkward silence.
She couldn't meet his eyes. She had seen a glimpse of their kindling before, when Kiri was still out. "Yes, I know."
"And I mean, I didn't expect him to follow in our footsteps, I always thought it would be Lo'ak." He had been genuinely surprised at the obvious relationship between the two teenagers.
Neytiri huffed and set down her knife, looking up at the man. "I already know, my Jake."
He widened his eyes. "You knew?" She nodded. "Why didn't you tell me?"
She only rolled her eyes and went back to whatever she was doing. He had been so stupid some times.
