Fei stood in between two timelines. One, she could go with her sister and Tuk, and the other, she could follow Neteyam and Lo'ak. She would fight, a duty as a warrior.

Her hand tightened around her spear. It would be one of the many decisions she would have to make as the next chief of the island. As the two boys ran off, her gaze hardened at the ground of the ship.

From the water, Tuk called out to her. "Fei!" She yelled. "Come on, they told us to get safe!"

Her heart raced. Fei stared at the direction they had run off to. She huffed and looked back. "You need to go! It's not safe for you!"

"Fei-" Tsireya tried to talk her out of it, already knowing what she was planning to do.

"This is my duty," was the last thing she said before she ran the opposite way. Her adrenaline was rushing fast. Any Sky Person could attack at any moment. Fei just had to make sure she wouldn't give it to them.

She watched as the two boys dropped down, flinging and punching the humans. The middle boy, with blotchy blue stripes and locs, must have been Spider.

Just as one of the humans grabbed his gun and aimed it at Lo'ak, she lunged forward and stabbed his heart from the back. She pulled her spear out and snarled. "You do not belong with Eywa,"

There was a slight shock to the brothers. Spider tilted his head in confusion at the girl he never met before. Even if they hadn't met, she saved him.

"Fei!" Neteyam scolded her, eyes wide. "I told you to stay back!"

"I don't take orders." She wiped a splatter of blood from her face with the back of her hand. She felt controlled for a moment when she really thought about going with Tsireya and Tuk. "I thought you knew that."

"Who's this?" The human boy asked.

"Shit, bro, you missed a lot," Lo'ak exhaled a sharp laugh. He had suddenly realized that Spider and Fei had never met before.

The group jumped down to a lower level. Fei's ears twitched. Someone was coming. She turned around just as a human in a Na'vi body stepped through the doorway, gun in hand.

She lunged forward. Her spear launched through the air. With intense precision, it lodged right in his heart before he could even notice. That was when the gunfire started, little pops and bullets flying towards them.

She grabbed Lo'ak and Spider's hands, dragging them to the water as Neteyam shot from around a corner. "Come on!" She shouted, right next to the water.

He dove in, a hand placed over his heart.

When they surfaced, Fei looked back as her eyes widened. "No," she whispered. "No, don't do this," she pleaded. Nobody, however, could answer her call. "We need help!" She shouted to Lo'ak and Spider.

Tsireya rounded them on her Ilu. "Get on," she beckoned.

Fei dragged Neteyam's body through the water, lifting him on. It was pure instinct. "We have to go," she turned her head to the other two boys. "Now!"

"They have Kiri and Tuk," Tsireya tried to tell them.

Lo'ak shook his head. "We can't go back."

The older girl drew in shaky breaths, pressing her hand over the wound. "Please," she repeated. "Please don't let this happen. I never saw this, Eywa, please,"

It was a prayer unanswered.

Jake helped lift Neteyam's body on the rock. Waves crashed into them. No matter how disrupting it could be, Fei stayed in her thoughts. She stood on the rock, eyes trained on the boy she learned to love, and took a deep inhale.

"Please," was the last thing she whispered before she closed her eyes and recalled her dream. Noise was blocked out of her ears.

The dream. The future. Anything to tell her what to do.

Flashes went by.

Memories.

A child's laughter rung in the background.

A swollen belly.

Stringing seashells.

Anything.

Fei opened her eyes. Desparity filled her heart. All she could do was wait. She needed patience.

His entire family was crouched by his side as he breathed in short wheezes. Fei kneeled next to him, taking his hand in her own. "Neteyam," she whispered.

With the last of the strength in his body, he raised his hand over her heart, then drifted down to her stomach. "Sylwanin," He whispered softly.

Out of anything he could have thought of in the moment. His friends, his family, his life. No. He thought of their little daughter who brought them together in the first place.

Fei would never be able to talk about their children then they grew older. She would age until her death, but he would forever be 19. Still, he thought of the little girl in her belly.

Sylwanin, his eyes said.

His pupils dilated. His face contorted and relaxed.

Neteyam was gone.

Fei choked up. Tears welled in her eyes. "No," she refused. The future wasn't supposed to happen like this. She reached out to place her hand over his heart, but stopped herself. If she did, it would feel all too real.

Wails from Neytiri were heard. A mother mourning, just like she had seen before. With his limp hand in hers, she closed her eyes once again and saw the vision in her eyes.

They grew older and wiser together. They would be blessed by Eywa with Sylwanin. Yet still, in that moment, she felt strangely empty. She would find nights in the grove alone and nobody to hold her heart.

A sudden flash interrupted her thought. She winced, eyes flying open. It wasn't like anything she had seen before.

A shift. Like a light that was pointed directly at a shadow.

Her eyes went back to look at Neteyam. The fight wasn't hers anymore.

It was his.
