Before any of them had none it, a pistol had been fired along with the shouting of Cricket. "USOPP!" A hole was right above the snipers headed.
"Oh shit." As he was crying and shaking in terror.
"Whether or not my distant ancestor was an honest man... Whether or not he was a great explorer... It's got nothing to do with me!" This was all being shouted by the old man holding the pistol. "Do you know what it's like for a kid... to be jeered at by everyone just because he has the blood of an idiot in his veins!? I had to grow up with that!" It was clear that he was enraged by the memories of his childhood. "But... yeah. These past 400 years, countless members of our family have come to this ocean trying to restore our honour. And we lost them all." Which would make sense as the Grand Line was incredible dangerous, especially in earlier years. "I became ashamed of my family. So I ran away form home and became a pirate."
"So you're a pirate, Diamond-head Guy?" Luffy seemed happy at hearing that the man was a pirate.
"It's not like I wanted to be one. I just wanted to be free of Norland's curse." This had been explained before moving on. "Before long, I'd built up my own pirate crew. After I entered the Grand Line, my life was full of adventures. But 10 years ago, my ship landed on this island by what seemed like coincidence. How ironic that the one man who hates Norland and the Montblanc family the most would end up here. And as I stood on the cape of this island that lacked a golden city, just as in the storybook, I thought: 'This is fate.' There was nowhere left to run." After having decided to stay, his crew had left while mocking the man. Since then he began diving into the ocean in order to find the truth. "If it does exist, that's fine. But if it doesn't exist, that's fine too. This isn't about proving his innocence. This is a battle with the man who ruined my life. I just want to settle things with him, before I die."
"Y-You're a true man." While the rest of the crew stood in silence, Usopp was in tears speaking.
"Then, what about those two? Why are the monkeys here?" Luffy had asked about Masira and Shojou, as they didn't appear to have been with him before the island.
"It must have been another incredible drama of men... struggling against the ocean's depth, told through the fists!" had been what the long nose was saying though his snorting and tears.
"They're fans of the book." Appeared to be the only reason they were here.
"FANS!?"
"That's quite a simple relationship you have..." was the only once why Nami could describe it.
"It was five or since years ago. They came here and barged onto my land after hearing rumours about me. They said, 'We think Norland's gold really exists!'" He spoke of the two currently fighting each other outside. "The ocean around here is deep. This solitary feeling that haunts me gets even worse down there in the dark and cold of the sea. Day after day, I would dive down and search, all alone. And they simply barged into my life, proclaimed themselves my followers, and stated rampaging around. Watching such simple-hearted idiots... honestly, they saved my life. You know what I mean?" Iris understood that feeling better then anyone. Spending her life in isolation unable to trust others, Luffy and the others appearing saved her life and her heart.
"I understand. So that's how it is." Usopp was once again in tears after listening. "It means so much to a guy to have true friends like that."
"Well, enough about the monkeys." Luffy on the other hand lost interest awhile ago.
"THEN DON'T ASK ABOUT THEM! YOU BROUGHT IT UP!" Which only had him snapped at by the long nose before he punched the captain.
"Like I said!" However, he had then been throw across the room in annoyance. "We want to go to Sky Island, Old Man!" Hearing this from Luffy seemed to have brought a smirk to Cricket's face.
"You're a pretty impatient guy. Didn't you hear me before?" He had then asked this question. "The only testimony about Sky Island is from Norland the Liar." This had been reminded. "You mess with him, and you'll become a laughing stock like he was." Cricket reached over to the bookshelf right beside his bed and pulled out a single book that he began flicking through.
"Huh? So he went to Sky Island too?" Luffy was surprised upon hearing this.
"Unfortunately, he never wrote anything about going there..." Had been the response as Cricket was still flicking through the book.
"A ship's log? Is that Norland's?" Nami realised what the book was by the cover saying 'Log Book'.
"Yeah." The book had then been thrown at her after stopping at a page. "Read that part." He had told her.
"Wow. A logbook written over 400 year ago..." She seemed amazed hold such a thing, because normally they would been in ruins by now. "'Year of the Sea 1120, June 21st, clear weather. We've departed the cheerful town of Villa. Following the Log Pose, we left port and headed northeast. We got a very curios artefact from a passing merchant this afternoon. It's called a 'Waver' - a small one-seated ship that looks like a ski.'" Filled with excitement, Luffy, Usopp and Chopper had all walked over to her to look at the book or listen better. "'It is powered by its own wind, even if there is none upon the sea. I could not control it well, as it requires a remarkable amount of skill. It's become the crew's favourite recreational activity.' No way! I want one of those!" Even Nami seemed excited after reading that part.
"NEVERMIND! JUST KEEP READING!" Although, the guys right beside her wanted to hear more.
"'I was told that the only place that has this kind of engine is Sky Island.'" She had continued reading the log. "'Apparently there are many strange things like this up there. Speaking of Sky Island, one of my fellow explorers once showed me a living Skyfish. I can't tell you how surprised I was see such a fish.'"
"Skyfish?" Sanji seemed a bit intrigued by the creature.
"'It's a place our ship has never explored, but as a sailor, I would someday like to visit this sea in the sky. — Montblanc Norland.'" The passage had come to an end. "A sea in the sky!"
"Just like Robin said!" The guys were beginning to become even more excited after listening.
"And he was talking about it like everyone know about Sky Island back then!" Usopp had shouted this part as Chopper was dancing on his shoulders before falling off.
"So it really does exist!" The doctor was back to his feet with excitement.
"Oh, Pops! How're you feeling?" None of them seemed to have notice Cricket had gotten up and left.
"Couldn't be better!" Had been the man's response as he stood before the two monkeys still fighting with one another.
"That's a relief." But were still responding to him.
"Pops... this guy has been..."
"Listen to me, you two." But Cricket had interrupted them. "Do you like them?"
"What makes you ask?" Shojou responded with a question, not understanding why he was asking.
"It looks like they really want to go to Sky Island." Which had been explained to them.
"Sky Island?" This had caused them to separate from each other. "Well, if they're going, there's only one way to get there."
"That's be instant death for them if they try it alone, Pops!" Masira ended up informing him.
"That's why I asked you. What do you say to giving them a hand?"
