"You can't just keep moping around." Charlie said, sitting down on the end of my bed.

It had been a week since I had called quits with Luke. Each day I hoped to wake up to a text from him, but I got nothing. I thought it would feel easier but the pain was still there.

"Yes I can." I turned over on my other side, facing away from her.

Charlie sighed and laid back. "You know that he's not everything. You need to focus on your own self. Focus on your health."

"You sound like my mom."

"Marie, you know I want what's best for you."

"Mhm."

I felt Charlie move off my bed. I could hear her rummaging through my closet but I was too lazy to turn over and look.

Charlie soon made her way back over to the bed and turned me over, throwing clothes on me.

"Get dressed."

I gave her a confused look.

"Don't worry, I'm getting you out of the house for a bit. You can't lay in your pajamas forever."

I rolled my eyes, but sat up. I knew she wasn't going to take no for an answer. She's always been this way. Stubborn.

After getting dressed and brushing out my hair, I looked at myself in the mirror. I didn't recognize the person staring back at me. Eyes with dark circles that looked lifeless, the oxygen canula in my nose. I took the oxygen off for a moment, continuing to look at my reflection.

I always knew as a kid that my health was going to decline as I got older. I always knew that I was going to need a transplant. I always knew that I was going to die young. All of these things I knew, yet here I was, staring at myself shocked. I don't recognize myself anymore.

Knocking at the bathroom door interrupted my thoughts.

"Marie, you almost ready?"

I sighed softly, putting the oxygen canula back in my nose. I fixed my hair quickly before opening the door.

"Yeah, let's go."

I sat in the passenger seat, letting the wind flow through my hair. Taylor Swift was blasting loudly and Charlie was singing along.

For a moment, I forgot that I was sick. I forgot that I was sad. I felt happy.

Charlie and I drove on dirt roads in the middle of no where, enjoying the music and enjoying each others company.

We soon found ourselves laying back in a random field.

"I miss seeing you." Charlie said.

I turned over to look at her. She was staring up at the sky.

"I miss seeing you too."

She turned over to look at me, giving me a small smile.

"I can't wait till I can take you to another party."

I laughed, hitting her arm playfully. She laughed too.

"I'm not the party type."

"I know."

I shook my head, smiling. Charlie smiled as well, taking my hand. She gave it a squeeze, before staring up at the sky again.

We laid there for awhile. Both of us silent. Just enjoying each other's company.
