i was just a little scared to come back and face the gang. i'd left them on their own in a time i absolutely couldn't. i thought they would be pissed at me, but as soon as we got out the car i heard the familiar voices of the people i loved cheering, saw their smiles and their gasps and their sighs of relief.

-you're okay, i was so worried... - ademaris sighed, wrapping me and diego tightly in her arms. - you two almost gave me a heart attack!!!-she whisper-yelled.

-i love you, mami- we both said, hugging her back.

-i love you more than my own life- she replied, carressing diego's cheek, playing with my hair.

i went around hugging my friends and reassuring everyone i was fine, but then i had an idea. i went inside and took a bottle of cheap champagne from the fridge, then went back outside and got on top of a chair, as everyone called for a toast.

-so basically today, everyone almost died, but then we didn't!

they laughed and cheered.

-matthew killed the angeles girl and framed my brother- there were a few gasps and surprised looks, but at the same time, most of them seemed unsurprised. everyone kind of knew there was something off about him and its not like he was specially liked by everyone here, although i dont think they expected this. they just understood it. - but that bitch confessed now, thanks to billie... - i smiled at her proudly. can't believe that's my girl. - and he's fighting for his life right now at the hospital, also thanks to billie.

the crowd chuckled and looked at billie, and at the moment i could feel them starting to think of her like one of us. starting to understand she was really in it, for real. for life. for us. she blushed with all the looks on her and shyly smiled the cutest smile ive ever seen in my life.

-i just wanna thank you guys for not giving up on me and forgiving all the stupid shit i did today... and i promise, i'll never leave you again... but thank you for being here for me. so many of you know me since i was an annoying lil kid running around this house and i am so so happy to call all of you my family. - my voice started to break but i kept on going. - id like to propose a toast to the person who taught me what it means to be truly selfless, to take care of the people around you... - my eyes met his in the middle of the crowd, and with everyone watching, we somehow had our moment that was just ours. - ...the person who taught me to fight for who i love and what i believe in. my brother, diego, i would die for you. TO DIEGO!!!!! - i popped the bottle of champagne loudly.

-TO DIEGO!- everyone cheered back.

-AND TO MATTHEW BEING ALMOST DEAD!

they laughed then cheered again :

-TO MATTHEW BEING ALMOST DEAD!!!

everyone ran to diego the second i stepped off the chair, hugging him like they hadnt seen him in a hundred years- hugging him like you hug someone you thought you would lose. you could see in all of their eyes how much they respected him and looked up to him, truly. that day i made a promise to myself that thats what i wanted to be for people. i wanted to be like my brother.

we went through bottle of champagne after bottle of champagne and danced and hugged and kissed and laughed our asses off until the sun rose. and weirdly, i think i was the happiest i had ever been.

i knew i'd just gone through some of the worst shit anyone can go through in their lives, but also... i was safe. and with the people i loved. and for once in my entire life, i felt like it would all be ok, as i kissed billie under the sunlight.
