On a beautiful clear night sky was a city called Calatonia. In that city was a theater. And that theater had a sell out crowd for a performance called Epiphany. Inside the theater, the lights dim, and everyone finds their seats. The performers find their places, the spotlight shines on the curtain in front of the stage, and a chimpanzee rolls a giant fan to the side of the stage and turns it on.
The curtains separate to show the stage, which is a purple night sky. Behind the curtain comes one of the performers, who is a black sheep. The music comes in and the performer begins walking up a mountain decoration. She begins singing.
"Once there was a way to get back homeward.
Once there was a way to get back home.
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry.
And I will sing a lullaby."While she sings, someone begins to narrate.
Narrator: "This was it. The moment it all began. The moment an ordinary little guy fell in love with theater. Everything about it: the lights, the way the scenery moved, even the smell. He was only six years old, but his plans to become the first koala bear in space were suddenly... toast."
The scene changes to the koala, named Buster, and his wolf friend, Balto, grown up at the grand opening of the Moon Theater with his father and friends.
Narrator: "Some folks may have said he grew up to be the greatest showman the city has ever seen. Some called him a visionary. A maverick. Sure some folks said he was as crazy as he was stubborn, but I say wonder and magic don't come easy, pal."
The scene then changes to an office filled with many posters of past plays that the theater has hosted.
Narrator: "And oh, there would never be any doubt. The name Buster Moon would go down in entertainment history. And I should know, because I am Buster..."
Buster, who was the narrator, was interrupted by someone pounding on the door calling his name. Buster stops talking.
An elderly lizard named Miss Crawly walks into Buster's office with Balto, and his wife, Jenna.
Miss Crawly: "Good morning, Mr. Moon."
Buster: "Miss Crawly, Balto, Jenna, uh what's going on?"
Miss Crawly: "You've got a lot of animals waiting to see you, Mr. Moon."
Balto: "And we mean a lot."
Buster: "I do?" He looks out the window from his office. "Holy moly I really do."
Miss Crawly: "Yeah, it's the stage crew from your last show."
Jenna: "And they are starting to lose their patience."
Miss Crawly: "They say their paychecks bounced and..."
Buster: "Tell them I'll call the bank and make sure they're paid tout suite."
Balto: "Every time you say "tout suite", it hardly happens."
Miss Crawly: "Which reminds me, I've got Judith from the bank holding on line 2 right now."
Jenna: "Oh not her again."
Balto: "Always wanting to bother us at bad times."
Buster: "Um actually. I'm gonna have to call her back. Balto, come with me."
