Chapter 12

Later that day, Buster was watching the news at Eddie's pool house while Eddie, Po, Balto, and Jenna were sleeping. The news reporter named Kip Casey was in front of the Moon Theater bringing updates.

Kip: "Yes Mr. Moon certainly brought down the house today. And although Mr. Moon has not been available for questions, I've confirmed reports suggesting he was responsible for building a water tank that exploded and flooded the building."

While Buster watched, a knock on the door is heard.

Buster: "Eddie, Po, there's someone at the door."

Eddie continues snoring while Po yawns. Balto and Jenna wake up. Buster turns off the TV and looks back. He sees the shadows at the door and immediately realizes who it is.

Miss Crawly: "Mr. Moon?"

Germur: "Are you in there?"

Ash: "Come on, Moon, you can't just hide out in your buddies' pool house."

Rosita: "Yeah, we just wanna make sure you're alright, that's all."

Balto: "You should open the door, sir."

Buster opens the door, and everyone in the competition were there.

Rosita: "Hey Mr. Moon."

Johnny: "You okay?"

Carla: "Sorry about the theater."

Buster: "No. I'm sorry about what happened. And the prize money and..."

Rosita: "Oh, it's okay."

Jeanette: "It doesn't matter anymore."

Buster: "No, none of this is okay."

Ash: "At least we're all in one piece."

Rosita: "Yeah, and you know what, I bet we can find some other place to put the show on, right?"

Everyone: "Yeah."

Buster: "The show. Guys, I'm done."

Bodi: "You're done?"

Johnny: "Are you serious?"

Ash: "What do you mean done? Come on."

Buster: "Didn't you see this? Huh? Look, it says I'm a danger to society."

Gunter: "Bah."

Buster: "I'm a deluded, washed-up charlatan who never had a hit in his career."

Nico: "That's so not true."

Rosita: "Come on you don't believe all that?"

Buster: "Yeah, I do."

He tries closing the door, but Johnny holds it open.

Johnny: "Listen, you're not the only one who lost something. We all did. I mean I lost any chance of ever speaking to my Dad again over this show."

Buster shuts the door.

Balto: "Why'd you do that? They're trying to help."

Buster didn't answer. He walked to his air mattress and laid down. The others outside decide to leave. Meena stays and opens the door.

Meena: "Mr. Moon?"

Buster: "Meena, please."

Meena: "I baked a cake for you cuz, well, I know you're sad right now and probably afraid to try again..."
