“Today was amazing, thank you.” you had turned to your boyfriend who sat in the driver's seat once his car had come to a full stop in front of your house. He removed his sunglasses and hung them on his dress shirt, a smile occupying his lips.

“No need to thank me. I just want you to know how special this—us is to me.” His hand held your own, his thumb tracing over your knuckles before pressing a lingering kiss to them. Your smile widened in content, your heart swelling at the simple yet blissful action.

“I know,” you respond, your voice soft as your hand cupped his cheek while admiring the calm happiness displayed along his features. “But I didn’t get you anything and neither have I planned anything for today.” You pouted and watched him grab a hold of your hand that held his cheek, sliding it down to his lips and kissing the inside of your palm.

“Spending today together was a good enough gift for me. I need nothing but you.”

Although normally you would have found it cheesy, coming from him,  you couldn’t help but let the corners of your lips curve up at his touching words.

He toyed with your fingers for a moment, his lips parting to continue.

“Plus, I believe that anniversaries mean more than cake and gifts that we give each other. It’s a day where we should cherish each other’s company and love. I don’t need something from you to know how you feel. All I ask is for you to be there like you always have been.” He glanced up from your fingers that he played with, and gave you a sincere, soft smile.

“Same for me, which means no expensive gifts, Mister.” You booped his nose, making him laugh - the serious atmosphere cracking.

“No promises.” he grinned as you drew your hand back from his hold. You let out a sigh and playfully rolled your eyes.

“I should get going. You’re going to be late. We don’t want the King waiting.”

Jungkook shrugged, observing you undo your seatbelt and prepare to leave.

“He can wait. As long as I get to spend a bit more time with you, it’s worth it.”

You felt your cheeks begin the heat up as you took your purse, trying to bite back another smile.

“Yah! Why are you suddenly so cheesy? I want my boyfriend back!” You were on your knees on the seat cupping his cheeks, as if making sure it was indeed him. His bunny teeth appeared through his spread lips, a chuckle escaping. You grinned in response, watching as a sly smirk replaced his previous smile.

“Which one? The one who made you moan out his name in the back seat?”

Your cheeks were hot pink this time, your hands instantly letting go of his face.

“And he’s back. I lied earlier. I’d rather take the cheese.” You were back to sitting on your seat as he laughed at your comment.

“Oh c’mon, I know you love it baby.” He smirked as you shook your head.

“Never said such a thing.” You answered as your hand held the handle to open the car door. He unexpectedly leaned in, his lips brushing against your ear.

“You didn’t have to.” He whispered and the hairs at the back of your neck were left rising.

He pressed a kiss to your cheek right after, followed by your lips once tilting your chin to him - lingering his lips there for a bit longer than the previous. He hummed in satisfaction, barely parting from you.

You fluttered your eyes open, locking eyes with his ebony galaxies.

“I should go,” you breathed, the proximity between you close enough to have your heart racing.
