Chapter 12 // A hole where my home is...

Lucas looks up and sees Max walking towards him. She was wearing a red hoodie with some dark blue jeans. He could get lost in her beauty for days.

Lucas gets snapped out of his trance when Max says "Lucas? Hello? Dumbass!!".

"Huh?" Lucas responds.

"Are you coming or what?" Max asks.

"Coming where?" Lucas asks confused.

Max rolls her eyes at his clear oblivious brain.

"To my house...remember earlier" She says pointing to the hallway to refresh his memory.

"Oh yeah...yeah" Lucas nods remembering.

Max softly chuckles.

"Ok I'm leaving now so do you want to come with me in my car to my house or no?" Max asks.

Lucas shakes his head signalling no.

"No I have to tell my parents first then I'll come but thanks for the offer" He says kindly.

Max nods.

"Ok see you later Lucas" She says smiling slightly. This makes Lucas smile back at her as he walks away to his car. As he enters his car and puts the key in he lets outs a deep sigh.

He is now going to have to lie to them and figure something out to convince them to let him leave the house. He brainstorms for ideas whilst he begins driving towards his house.

Then it hits him. How is going to explain the cast on his arm?. It's obvious. His dad will know it was because of him and he'll ask Lucas if he told anyone what really happened. Lucas sighs as he looks forwards continue to drive.

It took ten minutes as he finally makes it to his house. Lucas came up with a plan and was ready to put it into action. Now he prays everything goes well and he doesn't receive any beatings.

Lucas opens the door slowly to reveal his mum there but no sign of his dad. "Oh hi sweetie" His mum says smiling. Lucas sends her a little smile back still suspicious if is his dad was here or not.

"Hi mum where's dad...?" Lucas asks her.

"Oh hes working extra hours today he won't be back till 8 at night" Sue (his mum) says.

Lucas let's out a breath of relief.

"Woah what happened to your arm sweetie?" Sue says walking closer to him examining his cast.

"Oh nothing..you know just my good old dad beating me against a wall again and this time he actually caused me to dislocate my shoulder so now I won't be able to play football for awhile or even do anything" Lucas states with a fake smile that was clear as day.

"Oh and also now I need surgery on it" he finishes with a fake smile still plastered on his face. His mum puts her face down embarrassed.

Embarrassed that she can't protect him from the one man who is supposed to love on him and care on him and turn him into a real man not a broken soul.

"Im sorry honey..." She says looking at him. Her eyes slightly glisten. "Im so sorry I can't protect you from him" Sue says slightly crying.
Lucas just looks at her annoyed.

"You can help me! Just fucking leave him!" He shouts at her. Sue shakes her head. This makes him rolls his eyes as he shrugs past her and walks upstairs to change his clothes. The truth is Lucas has had this conversation many times with her and even including Erica sometimes but she never listens to them and tells them how's he going to get better and become the man that he once was. And of course this makes Lucas angry every time because every time he a slight glimmer of hope that she'll will listen to him or Erica but she never does and Lucas has grown to get used to it whilst Erica is still struggling.

Lucas slams his door as he opens up his wardrobe to find some new clothes to put on as his school clothes are sweaty and dirty. He finds a nice blue pair of shorts with a blue lakers jersey with magic Johnson on the back. He also wears his signature headband on but this one is dark blue camo instead of green.

For some reason he felt like wearing blue today please don't judge him!

After Lucas was done getting ready which was a hard task with a arm cast he walk downstairs and sees his mum making food. "Hi honey I'm making food if your hungry" Sue says lifting her head towards him.

"No I'm fine mum but I'm heading out now and actually I need help" Lucas says as he walks towards the front door.

"Ok help with what sweetie" She asks as she turns the stove off and leaves the kitchen.

"Can you tie my shoes for me please?" Lucas says.

Sue furrows her eyebrows confused until he points at his arm .

"Oh...yes thats fine sweetie" She says as she mentally face palmed herself.

She bends down on one knee in front of the shoes on the floor.

"Ok what shoes lukey?" Sue says.

"Umm..the blue ones mum" Lucas says pointing at the blue Jordan 1s.

"Okeeey" she says as she picks up the shoes.

"Alright give you foot lukey" Sue says as she points at her knee.

Lucas rolls his eyes at the nickname as he lifts his foot up on her knee. She gave it to him as a little baby and hasn't stopped calling him it since. She finishes putting his shoes on and tying his laces as he stands up from the stairs. "Feeling blue today?" She says as she examines his blue outfit. Lucas shrugs. 

"Ok well be back before 8 that's the time your dad gets back from work and we both know what will happen if your not here" Sue says bluntly. Lucas sighs.

"Yep..anyway thanks mum for helping me love you and I'll be back soon" He says planting a kiss on her forehead. His mum sends him a small smile as he walks out the door.

-Outside of Max's house-

Lucas walks towards her door as he clasps his hand together. He feels himself growing nervous every step he takes towards the door. He finally reaches the door as he knocked on it lightly. Lucas stands there for a few minutes wondering if he knocked hard enough until someone finally opens the door. He looks up from the floor as he sees a beautiful redhead in front of him wearing a bright red jumper with a smile plastered of her face.

She yanks him inside in a quick motion as he stands there flustered. "Woah.." Lucas barely gets out as Max grabs his hand and runs upstairs towards her room. He was confused what she was doing but he wasn't complaining. They reach Max's room as she throws him on the bed and locks the door. Lucas eyes widen as he visibly blushes. What the hell is going on?.

Max turns around and notices him with his eyes widen and cheeks turning slightly red. She looks at him confused and then realises why he's blushing.

"Lucas I'm not sleeping with you" Max says rolling her eyes. Lucas let's out a breath of relief. Truth be told he wouldn't mind that but it's a bit too early and he's still getting to know her and plus he's still a virgin. He nods as Max sits on the bed next to him. "And also don't worry I told my brothers and parents that you were coming around with me because we are studying for a test coming up" Max says. Lucas nods.

"Anyway now are you going to tell me what really happened with your arm?" She says lifting her eyebrows at him. He gulps as he looks away visibly stressed.
