Chapter 2: A deal

"It's been a long time Aiden..." A short girl with brown hair and a chestnut face greeted him. She wore a white shirt and brown skirt along with a cape.

Aiden was surprised to see an acquaintance of his, but he snapped out of it and tried to maintain his composure. "I'm sorry to call you by your name, Goddess of Civilisation."He took a deep bow before Mumei.

Mumei leaped from the stairs and floated down to the bottom floor of the room. She approached Aiden and grabbed his shoulders to straighten his upper body so that he could look at her. "It's fine Aiden, a god shouldn't bow to anyone.. "

"But... " Aiden wanted to refute her but he felt she meant what she said. Therefore, he kept what he was about to say to himself.

Mumei's head turned 180 degrees to the cylindrical glass room that confined the blond girl. "She's quite the beauty isn't she?" Mumei pointed out.

Aiden wasn't frightened at all but he figured that he might need to thread carefully from here onwards if he wants to live. "What's the girl doing in there?" Aiden probed Mumei.

Mumei's face that had been facing the girl turned a180 degrees back to face Aiden. "Before that I need you to listen to a story."

"I'm all ears."Aiden responded in a heartbeat thinking that it would explain why he was kidnapped.

Mumei grinned and started narrating her story "We both know the war has split humanity into 3 sides, to either side with the God of the Sun or the Goddess of the Moon. But the factionless side sides with nobody, the war had gone on for 500 years. Both sides had come to a stalemate, but it has become a inhabitable place for anyone that did not receive the blessing of the moon or sun deities."

"Go on." Aiden tried to make himself look interested despite already knowing what he was told.

"The domain of the gods are simply too wide, And the council have limited power. We could only act as an overseer in this war. I thought that the war would improve the development of the civilization. And I was right, after 200 years into the war, the war had made the improvements in technology going way beyond what we estimated for this world. Therefore the council had decided to finally act by working with the factionless humans to take back their world from the gods." Mumei continued.

Aiden was shocked by mumei's revelation "The council making their entrance into the war? Have you gone mad?"

Mumei responded " The objective of the council had never changed since the beginning of time, we nurture worlds to make them habitable and independent, then we leave from it to the next world. Besides,we found the book of creation."

"You what? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" Aiden was furious.

Mumei posed her arms in a showy gesture pointing towards the girl behind the glass cylinder.

"No...you've made... and incarcerated a god?" Aiden couldn't believe he would have to come to this conclusion.

"Technically she is a pseudo god, She's a human that was possessed with the power of the Time Warden herself." Mumei happily chirped.

Aiden took another look at the scrawny girl that was sitting still in her confinement. "What's her domain?"

"She can accelerate time but not rewind it. Inside that chamber, time is moving so fast that 10 years would pass in the blink of an eye."Mumei answered.

"Why is she accelerating her time in there?" Aiden asked.

"It's nonsensical to ask that, why would the moonlight freeze someone without her blessing when it was light that is reflected from the sun itself? So should they die from being reduced into ash instead?" Mumei returned a question with another question.

Aiden decided to ask the most important question that relates to his survival. " Why am I here Mumei?"

"Finally dropping the pleasantries? In order to get this world to escape from the control of the gods, you are the most crucial piece that we needed to free this world from their grasp. " Mumei answered.

Aiden was relieved that his life wasn't in danger but Mumei's words made him even more confused. "If you need me, what's the use for her?" Aiden referred to the trapped girl.

Mumei went blank for a second, she knocked her own head with her knuckle. "Oh silly me, she's supposed to be disposed of by today. I forgor about it until you've reminded me."

Mumei took out a remote and pressed a button. Water started gushing out from the floor within the glass wall. The girl within the glass panicked, she ran to the direction of the glass wall and attempted to break it. The girl started yelling something at the top of her lungs but it couldn't pass through the thick glass.

"It'll take three minutes to fill it up, it's not a pretty sight, let's go somewhere else so that we can have a proper discussion about why you are needed." Mumei started to leave the room.

Aiden was about to leave but he took another glance at the girl that was trying to get out of her cell. The girl hit her head against the glass wall until blood spattered and started flowing from her forehead. She then stained her finger with her own blood and started writing something on the glass. Aiden didn't care about it until it formed into a word that he was looking for.

Aiden conjured a staff and threw it, the staff pierced the glass wall. It then enlarged after sucking water from within to make a big hole that broke the glass wall for the water to flow out along with the blond girl. Aiden was cautious as he got closer to the girl.

"What's the meaning of this Aiden?" Mumei had an angry look on her face.

The blond girl expelled some water from her lungs and said weakly. "Ha....Ha....Took you long enough you fucking potato..." She then fainted.
