Chapter 3: Po-tato, pota-to
The girl had a dream, in that dream she saw 4 blurred figures attempting to fight against an unknown horror. Everyone she cherished dropped dead like flies while she was pierced by a divine weapon in her chest. She couldn't do anything other than observe it happen in front of her eyes. She woke up as soon as she finally died in her dream.
"I see that you're finally awake." the sound of a man rang in her ears.
She was startled and looked around until she found Aiden sitting across a campfire. "Oh...Hey..."
"I mean, thanks for saving me out of that prison." The girl thanked Aiden.
"The wound on your head, it'll probably leave a scar." Aiden pointed out.
The girl touched her forehead and she could feel a bandage on her wound.
"That wouldn't be a problem, it was very kind of you to do this much for a stranger." the girl smiled.
Aiden reached his hand into the firepit and held 2 sweet potatoes out of the fire. "Would you like some?" Aiden asked the girl.
The girl widened her eyes."I'll take both of them" she grabbed both of them and started munching on it despite how hot it was.
Aiden was left speechless because he only intended to give her one but she took his portion as well.
"Do you have a name, girl?" Aiden asked while she's stuffing food into her face.
The girl quickly swallowed her food and replied. "The name's Amelia Watson, the world's most famous detective at your service."
Aiden breaks into a smile, "World famous detective? You haven't left that cell for the past 200 years. Or did you knocked yourself too hard at the glass earlier?"
Amelia retorted "have you met any detectives other than me within the past 200 years mate?"
Aiden stared at the stars to think, and the result came up "Nope, never seen one since the war started..."
Amelia grinned "Which makes me the one and only, the world's most famous detective."
"If there's a god of deduction out there, you're going to be sorry" Aiden was slightly angered by her folly.
Amelia answered "And that could be me, for I am a god as well."
Aiden decided that he warmed her up enough to start talking business. "How did you know?"
Ame sensed the shift in his tone and questioned him "About what?"
"That thing you wrote down on the glass wall, how did you come to know about it?"Aiden made his question clearer.Ame had a smug face, she leaned forward and said in a low voice."It's unimportant about how I knew it, when I know where it is."
Aiden was shocked but he pulled himself together despite the loud thumping of his heart. The excitement that is trying to take over him.
Aiden asked, "How could you prove it?"
Amelia sat closer to him and reached out her hand to Aiden. "Take my hand."
"Just so you know, the last time someone initiated a hand shake with me, it didn't end well." Aiden spoke.
Amelia held her ground. " Maybe you would prefer a hug instead?"
Aiden after considering both options decided to go with a handshake.
"Now close your eyes, don't be afraid." Amelia teased him.
Amelia channeled her powers through her hand which allowed Aiden to see a vision of himself holding onto the object that he was looking for all this time!
Aiden snapped out of it and woke up from the vision.
"Ain't that interesting?" Ame asked Aiden.
Aiden rearranged his thoughts and decided to thread carefully "What do you want from me?"
"I need you to complete a task for me. After you complete it, I will guide you to what you seek." Ame replied.
"What's the catch?" Aiden asked.
"You see the task itself is more of a combination of 4 tasks?" Amelia went into the details.
"Just spit it out" Aiden lost his patience.
Ame took a deep breath " I will need your help in releasing my sisters"
Aiden processed her words. "Are you saying...that there's 4 more pseudo gods like you out there??? "
Amelia affirmed his doubts "Yes.."
Aiden took a deep breath and shut his eyes "I need a moment, I think I forgot to get milk " he stood up and tried to walk away from all the mess he made just from today.
Amelia stood up and yelled at Aiden "Are you going to just leave like this!"
Aiden didn't answer her and continued walking away from her.
Amelia had to turn to her final resort "Please, they are trapped probably way longer than I am, I can't leave them and live my own life while they suffer until one day someone decides that they aren't needed anymore!"
Aiden was not moved a single bit by her plea, he continued walking away because he needed to force her hand.
Ame yelled "We can make an agreement with the god of contracts as witness."
Aiden stopped walking, he turned around and started to walk back to Ame.
"That wouldn't be enough." Aiden said.
"What else do you want?" Amelia asked.
"A Bond of Life, we both will share a single life. This way, you can't kill me without killing yourself." Aiden answered.
"Deal." Amelia answered in a heartbeat.
They shook hands, a snake with one head at both ends materialized out of thin air and binded their arm, they bit both Amelia and Aiden at the same time and then turned into ash. The contract was established.
"Now, how do we find them?" Aiden was impatient.
"The first one we will go to would be at the southern edge of Aus." Ame answered.
"We'll set out on daybreak." Aiden announced without further questions.
