Chapter 8: Who's next?
It's been 2 days since the tsunami was stopped, Gura had fun exploring her domain to control water with Ame taking notes of her limitations and characteristics. The timid shark was no longer afraid of the outside world and became more cheerful and bratty.
Meanwhile, Aiden was busy doing cleanup of the beach after he barricaded the entire coastline with his ability.
'It's been 2 days...the leviathan hasn't reappeared.' Aiden was worried that another fit of her's might submerge the entire continent for real.
A reddish projectile zipped through the air at incredible speeds from the horizon and Gura caught it with her bare hand. The tinge of blue of her hair changed into a bright red color.
The leviathan took control over Gura "You passed the test." She looked calmer compared to the last encounter.
Aiden walked closer towards the leviathan and Ame moved away from her slowly to stand next to him.
"Hmph, the dumb shark might had helped you a little, but I think you are worthy after all." The leviathan talked in a condescending way.
"Worthy of what?" Aiden had no idea what she was talking about.
Ame facepalmed after realizing she forgot to explain to Aiden in regards to what he did.
"T-to-to-to-" The leviathan stuttered hard and her face was blushing red like a tomato.
Aiden tried to help her form her words " To?"
The leviathan took a deep breath and yelled out her frustration "TO MARRY ME YOU FUCKING POTATO!!!!"
Aiden was stunned, with a stern look he spoke "...I beg your pardon?"
"I SAID MARRY ME!! CAN"T YOU HEAR ME?!" The leviathan was angry from Aiden's denseness and the embarrassment he was putting her through.
"I can hear you just fine but I just want to know why?" Aiden answered.
The leviathan stuttered again" B-B-Because, Because you bit off my tail..."
Aiden looked towards Ame, and Ame turned away from his gaze knowing that he didn't like any of this at all.
Aiden felt a tug on his collar, the leviathan spoke with dissatisfaction "DON'T LOOK AT OTHER WOMEN WHEN I'M HERE!"
"Is there a way to undo this?" Aiden asked her seriously.
"OF COURSE THERE'S NOT! It's not as if you could just sew back the chunk that you bit off my tail."
Amelia took out the missing chunk of the leviathan's tail and sewed it back using needle and threads while accelerating herself.
"Would this do?" Aiden asked with a passive tone.
The leviathan was left speechless "...Aight, I'mma head out." She reverted herself back to Gura.
"I'll... just get back to work then." Aiden resumed the cleaning of the beach until nighttime.
Gura picked up dried sticks from the surroundings for the campfire and Ame lit up the dry wood with a lighter.
Amelia sat near the campfire while smoking from a pipe. Aiden looked at her with a complicated gaze, just as he opened his mouth. She said, "The next one is coming towards us as we speak."
He closed his mouth and nodded.
Gura looked at both of them with a puzzled look, "Where are we going?"
Ame took a puff and pointed her pipe towards the sky. "We're going up!"
Both Aiden and Gura looked up to the cloudy sky.
"It's that thing?" Aiden stood up and looked at it intently.
"Clear the clouds Gura!" Ame commanded.
Gura dispersed the clouds in the sky and a huge landmass appeared above the clouds.
"How do we even get up there?" Gura asked Ame.
Aiden stretched his hand towards the floating landmass in the sky and the island gradually stopped moving in its course. And then he slowly landed it into the sea within 15 minutes.
"Let's get on board then." Aiden moved first with the other two tailing him from behind.
Once they got on board, Aiden released his influence on the island and it started to move up into its original course gradually.
After going through the thickets, they found the Shrine. But in front of it was a hoard of frozen corpses that were in a running position in an attempt to perhaps run away from the main entrance.
"I don't feel good from this." Gura commented.
Ame snatched a entry pass from one of the corpses "Here we go~"
The both of them followed Ame to a control panel beside the main entrance with the words 'Shrine 02'
After scanning the card, the doors slid open for them to enter the facility. An air of death brushed by them coming from within the Shrine.
"I smell blood." Gura summoned her trident.
"In and out, just another 20 minute adventure." Ame took the lead as she strolled casually into the Shrine.
Aiden felt uneasy, he could feel many chaotic vibrations coming from within the facility. "Let's make this quick then." He summoned his trusty staff from the ground and they all entered the Shrine.
They navigated their way around the facility with Ame lighting up the way using her lighter and what they found was mutilated dead bodies painting the hallways in brownish red.
Amelia inspected the bodies carefully and made her inference "The bodies were a day old, they were all cut down together in a single stroke, the weapon was a heavy blade with a wide reach. Judging from the only footprints that left the scene, our suspect is an injured woman wearing high heels, and roughly around 165cm tall from the size of her shoes."
"Is she-"
"Yes, our suspect is most likely who we're looking for." Ame lit her pipe and took a puff.
We started to hear something like a stick taping on the ground from in front of the hallway. It got louder and louder until the silhouette of a tall lady holding a huge scythe became visible to us.
"Seems like I did miss a few ones after all." the black figure spoke with a charming voice
Ame excitedly ran her mouth. "Project Myth, specimen S. Gentlemen...today, we're here to conquer death!" she let off a gremlin laughter as the black figure dashed towards us.
