Chapter 6
Forest boys worldLo'ak's thumb wiped away the single tear, his expression radiating the most warming, cozy feeling I have ever experienced. I smiled at him "show me your world" I said excitement lacing my voice. Lo'ak's smile grew as he nodded, the warmth of his hand left my body as he swam to mount the ilu "let's go" he said then we left with me following not too far behind him.
The journey to the far end of the sandy island where the forest begins was full of a feeling that I could only describe as freedom. It took approximately 40 minutes possibly an hour to reach a part of the forest that looked good enough for us to both find shelter. "Here should be good" Lo'ak said, I turned my gaze towards the area that he was referring to and the sight made my eyes widen.
The endless grass was glowing the most vibrant green, blooming under the warmth of the sun were countless flowers most of which I have never seen before, each one never identical to another.I caught sight of a few animals that appeared to be using the flowers as their source of food, they had 6 legs that looked very strong their bodies were a blue that matched the colour of the sky. My sight gradually shifted from the ground to the trees that towered over the green land like trenches within the deepest parts of the sea. A flock of birds flew out of one high branch their gracefulness leaving me in awe.
"Its so....... Magnificent" I said
"It is indeed" lo'ak replied. I turned to face him noticing that whilst he looked at the forest the tension that was once present vanished, he was the most relaxed I had seen him since the day he appeared at my clan. Within that exact moment I knew that this was the version of Lo'ak that was free from expectations and rules. This is the real him."We should find a suitable tree to stay in for.......wait how long are we staying here?" Lo'ak asked his face now turned away from the forest. "I'm not sure, but I do know that I do not want to return home anytime soon" I replied.
Lo'ak nodded."let's go" He said. I was glad that he didn't push the subject further, explaining to him that he was one of the main reasons I left would be difficult.I once again followed behind Lo'ak and within less than 2 minutes we were at the outer area of the forest. The sea waves caused the grass to flood leaving behind a slope of slippy mud. I dismounted off Coral and gave her a smile, I dug a fish from out of my backpack and gave it too her, shortly after consuming the fish she left swimming away into the direction of the clan. I placed the backpack securely onto my back again before turning around to see that Lo'ak was waiting for me at the top of the muddy slope. Can't be too hard. I took a step then another one, the texture of the mud was unfamiliar to me causing me to scrunch my face in disgust. I was a few steps away from the top when I slipped landing face first into the mud. I lifted up my head glaring at Lo'ak who was in the middle of giggling. After seeing my expression he quickly changed his face and held out his hand. "Here" he politely said. I grabbed his hand firmly not wanting to risk falling again, after standing back up I could feel the pain in my leg begin to spike."you okay" Lo'ak asked concerned. "Yeah, all good the fall just caused my leg to hurt a bit" I explained. He then pulled my arm urging me to get to the top of this muddy slope, slowly but surely I made it to the top.
I sat down, taking in deep breaths. Mum was right my leg really is not healed yet, I thought to myself. Lo'ak immediately crouched down to my level. I could see the worried expression displayed on his face, I noticed his eyes scanning my wound which was now bleeding. I huffed finding it irritating that I can't even walk up one slope without my leg practically giving up on me. Coming out of my thoughts I once again looked at Lo'ak who was now looking around, he appeared to be deep in thought. "A fish for your thoughts?" I questioned. He turned to face me his expression showing how confused he was. "I give you a fish and in return you tell me your thoughts" I said.
"Ohhhh~"he said chuckling. "I was just thinking about how difficult it would be to climb that tree with you on my back, so I was trying to come up with alternative options but" he paused.
"But what?" I asked with curiosity.
"High ground is safer than anything in the forest sooo" he began to trail off his sentence.
"So what your saying is that we have no option but for me to hold onto you for deer life whilst you climb that tree" I butted in, finishing my sentence whilst pointing at the gigantic tree which was at least a few miles away. "Exactly" he said, whilst giving me the most cheeky grin ever."No" I said
"Why nott come on Räya, I promise that I wont drop you" Lo'ak said using a confident tone.
I do trust Lo'ak but I don't want to cause trouble for him, however I'm beginning to believe that I have no choice.
"Ok" I caved in.
"Good, jump on" Lo'ak said showing his back to me. I stood up trying my best to ignore my pain, I wrapped my arms around the front of his neck and he caught my legs.I could feel a heat rising up my cheeks. "You all good back there?" Lo'ak questioned. "Yeah" I mumbled.
"Okay then hold on tight" Lo'ak said, I could feel his voice vibrate through his body. I just silently nodded knowing he could feel it.From here onwards the walk to the tree begins.——————————————-
