Pov. Park Sunghoon*
It was Thursday. Today Ms. Jung challenged us extremely and forced us to try some highly regarded elements for a new choreography, which should bring us many points at the next competition.
Usually, we all worked on the choreography in threes, but because of the university, Ms. Jung took over this now. She also had to choose a song and therefore wanted to see which elements we were still good at.
"Be glad we don't have to do a reverse death spin," Namra said, breathing heavily, her hands on her thigh. "Please don't remind me or I'll feel guilty again," I muttered, my eyes fixed on the ice as I hacked into it with my heels.
When Namra and I had to try the reverse death spin last year, Nam almost bit her tongue off thanks to me. I panicked when I saw the blood on the ice and haven't wanted to hear about that element since.
"Okay then... The last thing we'll do is... hmm... Can you guys try a twist lift? A triple?" asked Ms. Jung, looking up from her notepad. "Oh, God. A triple, is she trying to kill us? I haven't done that in ages..." Unsure, Namra looked at me. "But alright, I'll try, and we'll push off each other at the end, ok?" she nervously explained her plan, already holding my hand to get started. "Got it. Please be careful, if you don't feel safe, let me know first," I said, whereupon Namra looked at me with that one certain look. It was not classifiable, but it seemed familiar. Lightly she squeezed my hand while grinning softly at me. Uncertainly, my gaze wandered to our hands, then to the couple bracelet of Jake and me.
She should stop the attempts to approach me. Did I not make it clear that our relationship can only exist on a platonic level? Or was it rather me who was the problem, since I still showed myself to be very caring and nice to her? Why did it have to be so complicated?
Together we took a running start and then quickly turned 180° so that we were now going backward. Carefully I moved my hands to her hips. With ease, she jumped up. Supporting her, I lifted her at the same time and threw Namra into the air. After a whole three lightning-fast turns, I caught her again and lowered Namra to the ice, whereupon we immediately pushed off from each other.
"Brilliant! This element is definitely going into the choreography! But now you guys deserve a break, practice over. See you tomorrow afternoon!"And for Nam and me, this meant that we now had to go on the math tutoring.
Quickly changed we went on our way. Outside it started to rain, we held our training bags over our heads and hoped that we would not get sick from the cold and wet.
Arrived we froze despite our thick winter jackets to our bones and would have liked to drink a hot cup of coffee to warm up.Hopefully, we won't get sick.
My eyes roamed around the room and stopped at your particular group. Heeseung was sitting next to Jake, but they didn't seem to be talking. It seemed like they were...
... still, ignoring each other?
Jake noticed me. I pointed with my eyes to Heeseung, which meant, "Are you okay?" He, however, just shrugged his shoulder, so I squatted down to the empty chair at the double table next to him.
Mr. Choi entered and so the lesson began. Hesitantly, I looked at Jake and Heeseung.
The two of them hadn't spoken to each other since the fair. Although they spent a lot of time together due to the field hockey clique, university, and intense training for the important upcoming match on Friday, they still don't talk to each other since Sunday. Luckily, because of the clique, they were never alone, they were often with Jay and Jungwon with whom they could talk to ignore each other.
Well, Jake tried to bend the friendship up again. That was probably why he was sitting next to Heeseung.
Silently, I took out my book, notebook, and a simple ballpoint pen from the training bag while Mr. Choi explained some binomial formulas to us.
Suddenly, something slid toward me.
