Chapter 7; Thrushwing

Thrushwing growled all the way back to camp. She couldn't believe Thornpaw! He acted like he was a kit! Honestly, what is wrong with that tom? Thrushwing sat down, ready for her vigil. As she watched the camp, she thought of what Thornpaw said with anger. Suddenly, she heard rustling. Tensing, she watched. Wait, it was just Littlekit using the dirt place. She relaxed.

Jaggedtooth padded over to Thrushwing. "You can sleep in the nest on the outside with no scent on it," he mewed. Thrushwing nodded and padded over. She lied down and fell asleep.

Thrushwing, refilled with energy, leaped up and found Jaggedtooth. "Any patrols for me to go on?" Thrushwing asked.

Jaggedtooth nodded. "In fact, yes, there is a patrol you can join. Sunblaze requested for you to join! Something about his apprentice wanting a 'fresh mind' to give him advice. Dustylight will be joining, also."

Thrushwing nodded, pretending to not care about the patrol, but inside, she groaned. She padded over to the patrol. "Let's go," Sunblaze led the group to the trickling creek. After doing some hunting, the group returned. Thrushwing had 4 pieces of prey, Sunblaze had 3, as did Dustylight, and Thornpaw, who seemed distracted, caught 2 pieces of prey.

"Hey Thrushpaw!" Creekpaw exclaimed.

"Excuse me, but it's Thrushwing now!" Thrushwing joked. "Have you got your warrior name yet?"

"Oh! I'm Creekheart now!" Creekheart smiled. "And how is a certain pest doing?"

"Oh, horribly! Today he caught 2 pieces of prey! And he dreams of being the youngest warrior!" Thrushwing snorted. "He even claimed he had a crush on me!"

"I don't know... I sorta think he really does have a crush on you," Creekheart mewed. Before Thrushwing could reply, the gathering started.

"Thornclaw! Thornclaw! Thornclaw!" Sunclan yowled. Thrushwing padded to her nest and lied down, drifting to sleep.

Thrushwing snapped her eyes open. There was the sound of paws. She looked out at the moonlight clearing. Thornclaw was bristling. Suddenly, cats filed in. "INVASION!!" Thornclaw yowled. Thrushwing came out and attacked the first cat she could find. Soon, she was cornered. The few cats started closing in on her. This was it. She growled, but it was pointless. Until, could it be? Thornclaw leaped over, swiping cat after cat away. Thrushwing hesitated, but then helped him fight. Was this the beginning of love?
