Chapter 10

I looked backwards to see of the guard was still there, but unfortunately he wasn't, and neither was the door. All of the sudden an ear piercing ringing stung my hearing; I lifted my hand to feel my ear only to realize that I was wearing an ear piece. The ringing stopped and Professor Wilson's voice came though.

            "You are to retrieve the Sominkia Plans by any means necessary, no one is your ally, not even your collogue Blake." Then the receiver shut off and disappeared. I looked up and Blake had already started running towards the other side, and was swiftly taking out enemies. I then noticed that a handful of Sominkia had broken off and were headed my way.

I started to run in their direction, but as I approached them I softly jumped, then as my left foot hit the ground, leaned back and let my right leg follow though and kicked the closest soldier in the shin, causing him to flip forwards. As is lifted myself back up I spun around, unsheathing my sword, then sliced the next guy in the gut, killing him. I twirled my sword and pointed it towards the next one. He quickly drew a dagger and though it at me, I stepped to the side, reached out my arm, then as if in slow motion I grabbed the hilt of the blade, continuing the momentum, spun around then as I faced the soldier again let it go, propelling the blade into his thought. I started to walk towards my objective, and at this point the soldier on the ground was just getting up and I simply slashed my sword, decapitating him as I passed.

I started to run again to my objective, killing any men to stand in my way. I reached the end of the canyon and noticed that the guards were already killed, most likely by Blake. A narrow lift was the only route that I could see. I stepped on it and it started to carry me to the top. As I was waiting, I could feel my father's eye's on me. Thoughts almost blinded me, why was her here? What did he want?

I almost didn't notice that the lift stopped, I noticed that I was now on a narrow bridge that crossed to the other side of the canyon. In the distance I say Blake running to the other end dodging any obstacles. Knowing that she would get there first, I quickly followed. I ran with everything I could muster, dodging enemies, pillars, and anything else in my way. Blake suddenly slammed her right root into the ground, spun on her axis, and as she came around I noticed that her arm was up ready to hit me, I dropped into a sliding position, sliding under her, then as I was far enough away I pushed on the ground sending me flying into the air. I spun around to face Blake, landing one foot extended behind me and an arm and other leg balancing my front I took a moment to evaluate my surroundings, but Blake had other plans. She had already drawn two small blades and was in a fighting position. I jumped up and planned on grabbing one of her arms, but Blake leaned to her side, bringing up her lower arm, hitting my extended hand away then bringing down her other arm and attempting to stab her dagger into me, thinking that was too close for comfort, I spun around and swung my fist into her jaw sending her spinning into the air. She landed on her back and quickly recovered and immediately slammed her two feet into my shins, causing me to fall to my face. She rolled out of the way, got up and dashed for the end of the bridge. I looked forwards for the ground only to see that she had already started the download for the plans.

I quickly got to my feet and ran as fast as I could to her. As I reached her the download had finished. Without looking she kicked me, causing me to stumble. She spun around and back handed me, making me loose balance. When I had gotten up she was already a fair distance away from me. I dashed after her, quickly closing the distance between us, but out from nowhere, everything in front of me exploded and went up in a plume of smoke, a section of the bridge was taken out. Without losing speed, I attempted to jump the hole. While in the air I tapped the small device on my hip summoning a small pistol, pointed it to Blake, and shot.

I missed ever so slightly, and I landed on the bridge but the weight of my body caused a small section of the bridge to loosen and fall, with me on it. As I fell, I could again feel my father's presence, anger, disappointment, and some satisfaction that I had failed. Again.
