Jwellery

oh how I've always been told
jewellery weighs heavier than books

how they've always assumed
my passion is mere exaggeration
an attempt to not be "like the other girls"

and oh how i've too been a hypocrite
thinking we cannot be
other than what we're ought to be
thinking sometimes fearfully
that we have to justify ourselves
for our strange preferences

that, for us girls
a color palette can never mean more than a makeup one
