Days seemed to past quickly at their new home.
Neteyam is spending more and more time in the water, soon perfecting how to ride an Ilu. Esmyrie even made a bead for his achievement, which caused Neteyam to give her a big smile before adding it to his hair.
Lo'ak and Tsireya are getting closer, forming a close friendship. Esmyrie is happy to see Lo'ak making new friends, she knows how difficult is was for him back home.
Kiri is in the water, usually away from the group, playing with the wildlife that live in the sea, something Esmyrie was always curious of. It seemed that she had a way to talk to the animals that no one else did.
Tuk was still curious Tuk. Barging in on personal conversations. She also made it a point to now comment on Neteyams hair every time they went home for dinner, because she learned Neteyam hated getting his hair done, and commenting on it made Neytiri look at his unkept hair and redo it. That always caused Neteyam to chase his youngest sibling until he caught up to her, usually tickling her until she apologized.
Lo'ak and Esmyrie have gotten a lot closer. They would sneak out once Jake and Neytiri were asleep, just like they used to when they were back at home. They would usually just swim in the ocean together, laughing at eachothers jokes or looking up at the stars. Lo'ak would tell Esmyrie stories of his fathers passed life before he became a Na'vi. Esmyrie would even sometimes tell stories about her father, and Lo'ak was always there when she had to hesitate so the tears wouldn't fall.
She misses him dearly. She feels like a piece of her is gone with her father no longer her, but she tries her best to act like it doesn't effect her. It helps when she stays busy, which is the main reason she is usually hanging out with someone now, instead of being alone on the beach like that time Jake talked to her.
During their night adventures, When the waves got to harsh or when Esmyrie could no longer touch the ground in the water, Lo'ak would hold onto her waist, making sure she stayed above water at all times. His touch was light, and sometimes tickled her skin or caused goosebumps to rise on her skin, but she liked his little act of affection and protection.
Jake and Neytiri know of the teens sneaking out. Neytiri was wanting to confront Lo'ak about it, but Jake was able to convince her otherwise, reminding her that they are just kids and should be allowed to do normal teenage things instead of constantly worrying about war.
Esmyrie still misses Spider. There will be times when she learns something new and she turns to tell him but then she realizes he is gone. Captured. Taken. Possibly even dead.
She can't think about that for very long, if she does it ruins her entire day.
Right now though, Kiri and Esmyrie are laying in the water. Kiri staring at the sand while Esmyrie has her head dipped in, practicing holding her breath for as long as she can.
Esmyrie hears muffled voices and taps Kiri on the shoulder, both the girls moving their heads out of the water to stand up.
It was Ao'nung, with Roxto and some friends the girls have never met.
"Huh? What did you say?" Kiri asks, giving Esmyrie a hand.
"Are you some kind of freak?" Ao'nung asks, and Esmyrie glares at the boy, already disliking where this conversation is going.
"He asked if you are a freak." Roxto says, a smile on his face as if this whole conversation is amusing to him.
Kiri shakes her head in annoyance, almost as if this is a conversation she has had in the past. Esmyrie lightly shoves Roxto, giving him a death glare before going back towards Kiri, putting a supportive hand on her shoulder.
