Opening with Cinder's perspective the next day.
Cinder was sitting near Salem alone. Salem looked at Cinder with a motherly smile.
Salem: Let's try again then. Give me your arm dear.
Cinder somewhat reluctantly placed her right arm which had turned black since the fall at Beacon before Salem placed her hand on it. A grimm beetle then crawled down Salem's arm as it stood between Cinder's and Salem's hands. The grimm beetle then bit into Cinder's hand causing Cinder to groan in pain.
Salem: I know it hurts. But don't fight it. It can sense your trepidation. You must make it dread you.
What looked to be dark energy from the grimm beetle began to leak into Cinder's arm. Cinder continued to groan in pain but did her best not to fight the grimm beetle. Suddenly an echo of chatter began to come from the entrance to the room as Salem took her hand away from Cinder. Both Cinder and Salem then looked at the entrance to see a seer grimm levitate into the room as the chatter coming from it continued. The seer grimm then levitated across the room and stopped next to Salem as Salem carefully listened to the chatter. As she did her expression quickly became unamused.
Salem: Cinder?
Cinder still unable to speak properly looked at Salem showing she was listening.
Salem: I'm going to have to ask you one more time and I want you to be completely honest with me.
Cinder knowing what Salem was about to ask nodded her head. Salem then looked Cinder in the eyes with an inquisitive expression.
Salem: Did you kill Ozpin?
Cinder nodded but Salem shook her head in disapproval.
Salem: No Cinder.
Salem's expression became a bit more sincere as she continued.
Salem: I need to hear you say it.
Cinder attempted to speak but at first, could only mutter small gasps. But soon although it hurt her throat she spoke.
Cinder: Y-y... yes...
Cinder then gagged in pain and breathed heavily for a moment as it hurt her throat to speak.
Salem then gave Cinder the same motherly smile she did before.
Salem: Very well then.
Salem turned back to the seer grimm.
Salem: Reinforce our numbers at Beacon. The relic IS there.
The seer grimm then levitated out of the room as Salem patted Cinder on the shoulder in a comforting way as Cinder caught her breath.
Salem: I know dear. But recovering takes time and dedication.
Salem then held up the grimm beetle again.
Salem: Now, shall we continue?
Cinder looked down somewhat afraid at her right arm which had become blackened before looking back up at the beetle and nodding. Salem then smiled at Cinder as she brought the beetle close to her hand again.
Salem: Very good.
The grimm beetle then bit into Cinder's arm again as she groaned in pain but continued to do her best to resist it.
Switching to Blake's perspective.
I have a different idea for Blake's character design change but thats not till a little later in this volume. For now she's in her same outfit from volumes 1-3.
