So you want to push someone in solo showdown. I got bored. Made this guide on pushing everyone in showdown. This chapter will be a briefing on solos and general tips. Individual brawler tips will be made for each chapter. I'll try to update quickly and will likely do the parts of meta brawlers first. If I got anything wrong, feel free to say in the comments. This guide will only apply to solos. There will likely be frequent edits to chapters since the meta is always shifting.
Solo showdown: in which 10 brawlers used to beat each other to the death, but then people realised they lived longer if they teamed up and stayed passive. Thus the birth of Clown Stars, and the mode based more on psychology rather than skill!
Yep. Playing solos gives a lot more pressure than playing 3v3 - it's a different kind of skill altogether. You learn to guess positions, judge people, and try to guess what other people are thinking in order to survive the longest. A lot of different things factor into this, which is why solos teaming is so hard to pull off, especially while going for r30/ r35. To team or not to team? I'll explain things in detail below. (This guide will likely apply mostly to 800+ lobbies where everyone is teaming)Brawler, map and sections
I rated all the brawlers that I already did, and you want to pick a brawler with a rating of 8 or above for beginners. Any brawler that I rate 8+ is a good brawler for solos, five or above is not a solid pick but still is decent if you have experience and are confident, and anything below that should only be pushed in 3v3. I rate all of the brawlers in their respective chapters. For maps, I do suggestions for each brawler and give a general idea of how to push them. You are also recommended to check out websites like Brawlify to get a good idea of who you're gonna be facing, and read my chapters on those popular brawlers. For instance, if you're playing on Cavern Churn, you better be prepared to face a hell lotta Buzzes.General Tips
Get away from deathtrap supers (for instance, Otis's super, which will most certainly result in your death).
Don't let Surges hit you more than once before healing. He's one of the best backstabber brawlers I've ever seen. More on him later.
More coming here when I get ideas. Soon.Metas
Now, what exactly is a meta? Sometimes three or four (or even 10, in really high trophy games) of the same brawler are okayed in the same match. They will generally team with each other and proceed to destroy anything that isn't them. A few examples are the currently ongoing Dark Passage Max Meta and the Cavern Churn Buzz Meta. They're very dangerous. I'll provide more tips on brawler metas on their sections. In general, you can either try to team with them (they might accept you, but you'll be the first to die once they run out of things to kill) or just stay passive until they've killed the whole lobby. Another option (and arguably the best one) are to team with the rest of the lobby to kill the meta, which will give you a much better chance to place high. Each meta is very different however, especially if you're taking advantage of it, so I suggest checking out their sections.Endgames
Endgames are a big part of solos. They're sweaty, they're intense, and everyone's heart rate is going through the roof. Endgames are a large part of why tanks like El Primo are popular, given their high close range damage and high health (survivability). Going into the storm is fine since you will take a lot of damage from others and always pick a corner to sit in that holds the least amount of risk. Don't go mid. More on this later.Pins and Sprays
Why not go the extra mile by removing your thumbs down? Thumbs up is much better - gives better image and people are much more likely to help you and not kill you. Wouldn't you be much more motivated to kill someone if they were spamming thumbs down?
For sprays, you want to pick the green tick one to show friendliness, 2 sprays that you feel like everyone will have (for instance, a spray that just came out of a challenge) in order to build trust between each other by wasting time doing bonding activities, and I also suggest you get a ghost train spray. Building a train together really helps the chemistry. The guessing game
It's complicated, to say the least. The best way to learn people is by experience. Rewatch plays where you died and compare those to plays where you won. Try to figure out what caused your death. Over time you'll become accustomed to threatening enemy movements and be able to react to them.Clearing Matchmaking
Very important while trying to push r30/ 35. You can't face the same person within 24 hours, so play for several hours (time will depend on your server) but eventually you will start facing low trophy brawlers. I've seen matchmakings with both 1300+ and 500 players. It may waste time, but is definitely worth it for more secure, easy wins. I recommend doing it if you're struggling.Losing streak
Quit for a while and try again. Anger will cloud your judgement.Anything else you want me to cover? Leave in comments.
About the new Likelihood of defeating Edgar ranking:
The Edgar has a super and is aiming it. What will the brawler do?
Pretty self explanatory.
0 point- can't do anything against Edgar and just dies the moment Edgar uses jump.
1 point- can only defeat Edgar with powercube advantage and super/gadget
2 point- can defeat Edgar, but it's not a guaranteed.
3 point- cannot defeat Edgar, but can ward him off
4 point- can defeat Edgar and claim the powercube with relative ease.
5 point- excellent at defeating Edgars without taking much damage and can bully Edgars very easily.
