Water Against Fire

-Storm-
Storm felt as though she could scream. She opened her mouth to say something but all she could produce was a squeak. "Still as weak as ever I see." Her flock member said and moved forward. Everyone just stared. Storm heard a low growl come from the group of younger kids, probably the dog. "I've been ordered to kill you, you know?" He said and looked at her with intense orange/red eyes. Storm soaked in his presence and features to see what was different, though she was only gone for about a week. Storm gave a curt nod as she decided in a split second to protect this flock, Max's flock, with her life. But she noticed the scar below her friend's eye and a bittersweet memory flashed past. Storm shook it off and stood ridged, glaring at him.

Max noticed how defensive Storm looked and it hit her, Storm was on their side. Max breathed a sigh of relief. Signaling to Fang silently and swiftly he got the message and focused all of his attention onto the new guy instead of splitting between him and Storm. "So?" Max started almost silently, "what's the plan?" She asked Fang. He gave a barely noticeable nod towards Storm. Max's eyes swiveled to Storm. The two had been talking and Max hadn't even noticed.

Storm felt better after her small quiz for her flock mate. The quiz proved that he wasn't even conscious. Only his chip kept him awake, meaning he had declined to pursue and kill her at least. But that wasn't enough, she had to make sure that he was on her side, not just on her life's side. "What's up with all the silence?" The flame elemental hollered and made Nudge jump. Storm glared at him. "Ash..." She hissed, trying to get to him. He grinned wickedly. "I'm right here, babe." Ash cooed. Storm started to boil. She was going to say something but then thought better of it and kicked him, hard, in the chest. Making him stumble back and trip off the cliff of the cave. Not even turning to look at Max, Storm yelled at her, "You have to go and get them younger ones to safety. I'll hold him off!" Then Storm was out and soaring towards Ash. Who was just recovering and sailing back up. "You're going to have to do better then that!" He snarled and crashed into Storm. Storm and Ash tangled and fought. Storm glanced down at the water. 'I just need to get a little lower!' She thought to herself. Suddenly a white-hot pain seared through her arm and she looked to see it was burned. "Wha-?!" Storm tried but was silenced by a blow to the gut. Ash had a handful of flames and a lighter in his other hand. Fury surged through Storm and she smashed her fist into his eye. Ash screamed and dropped a few feet. Storm let herself drop and land on Ash's shoulders. She chopped at his wings and they folded in from pain. They both plummeted.
-Max-
Max had brought the flock to the ground and in a shaded clearing near the lake from earlier. They were covered but had a great view of the fight. Max wanted to help, typical Max for you, but Fang was keeping her down. The kids were shaken and Iggy was tense with nervousness. "She's risking her neck for us?" Ig asked in disbelief. Max nodded before answering him. "Seems so..." Max watched in frustration. Fang put his hand on her shoulder. "She just has to get to the lake, you can see she's trying to do that, can't you? Don't worry." Fang said, his voice and eyes unreadable. Suddenly there was a loud rushing noise and Max grinned.
-Storm-
Storm dropped and restricted Ash until aw was at the perfect height away from the lake. Then she let go of Ash and snapped her wings out. Storm surged down and leveled with the water. She then went straight up, taking a huge wave of water with her.
