Along For The Ride

Friend or Foe

-Storm-
Storm rushed upward and flew straight past Ash, who was recovering from the hits to himself. He was swallowed by the huge tidal wave.
-Fang-
He watched in awe as the wave, controlled by Storm, crashed into the fire bastard and stole him from the sky. Soon the wave began to recede back to the lake. Fang stared, slack jawed. From behind him he heard the shocked babbling from the kids and Iggy asking what was going on. Max started to laugh. A small, quiet laugh.
-Max-
She laughed and walked out of Fang's embrace. Max looked in the sky for Storm and she quivered with anticipation.
'She can't have died...not for us.' Max thought. Suddenly the water splashed and Storm appeared with a huge grin on her exhilarated face. Storm swam slow and kept going under. The flock gathered around Max to see better, except for Ig, and Max grew ridged as she saw why Storm swam so ungraciously. She had her unconscious member towing behind.
"What are you doing with him?" She called to Storm. Storm dragged herself out of the water and laid on the ground. "He's...family.." Storm huffed out, having used a lot of energy. Max suddenly felt a twinge of guilt for thinking she'd kill her family for them.
-Storm-
Storm looked at her soggy companion. He was waterlogged and shivering. She remembered that Ash was very bad with water. Duh, fire and water are opposites. Slapping her face, Storm got up and picked Ash up with only minor difficulties. Max and the flock followed Storm all staring at her and Ash. Suddenly Nudge started to run her mouth.
"What are you going to do with him?"
"Why was he attacking us?"
"Does he have a chip too?"
"Is your arm okay?"
Nudge was going to keep going but Max clamped a hand on her mouth. Storm laughed and answered every question in a rapid fire spit too.
"Tie him up and fix him."
"He was ordered too and controlled."
"Yes."
"It will be."
Storm smiled at Nudge and gave a glance to Max, signaling she wanted to talk.
-Max-
Max noticed the glance and took a hold of Fang's sleeve. He followed with no objection. They stood near a tree with low hanging branches, waiting for Storm. They watched as Storm gingerly set down her companion and tie him securely to a tree. She then patted him down for any lighters, matches, and anything flammable. Soon enough she made her way toward them. Max waited for Storm to start talking.
-Storm-
She leaned against the the branches and looked at Fang and Max. "You guys okay?" She asked with sincerity. Once Max nodded for the both of them Storm relaxed slightly. Then her mind was flooded with plans for fixing Ash, and finding more information about how her flock is. But Storm pushed all of that away and looked at Max. "I'm sorry." She said, "I swear, I'll fix this and make sure none of you are harmed."
Fang started to laugh. "You're one mysterious person, Storm." He said quietly. Storm was suddenly hit with the clarity of the situation. She came saying she would kill them. She glitched. Now she wants to help them. Her flock member came also wanting to kill them. Fang was wary of her! She rubbed her face in exhaustion. Storm looked at Fang with icy eyes. "I'm glad you're all okay." Her eyes warmed when she looked at Max. "I'm gunna get some sleep." Storm shrugged and walked from under the tree. Funny how a flock of freaks can make you the freak. Storm kicked a rock harshly, accidentally hitting someone.
