The ambiance at the castle deteriorated day by day since Nightmare burst into panic and sadness. The new smiles and laughs that could be heard from it, faded away as the days passed. Nightmare simply couldn't forgive himself for what he had done.

Now he understood why he woke up in this castle with all of these new persons and covered in black goop. The negativity from the apples he ate took control of him and his emotions. He couldn't feel anything positive before he woke up alone that day.
That person he saw in his nightmare was him with no positivity in his body and soul. The apples sucked it as much as they could but with time the effect they had on him faded away and he woke up.
Everything was his fault.

His friends tried to cheer him up but even they knew that the guardian needed time to move on after learning this. Killer was staying with him the most, making sure the guardian felt love even after what he had done. Dust was helping him with his injuries when there were bad days as he called them. Cross was trying to entertain him and was always bringing him new books or this video game thing he lend to Nightmare. Horror was making sure that he still ate well even when he didn't want to.
All of them were helping and Nightmare was touched, little by little he was trying to get better for them. But he has hidden something from them and all this new kind of overprotective attention was making it difficult for the guardian to keep his secret well a secret.

Since a few days after he decided that his friends should stop going on negativity raids and instead should stay safe at the castle, the guardian fell sick.

It was not a big deal at first, nothing more than a cold. But day by day Nightmare's health was decreasing and he knew it wouldn't be long before it become a big problem. He didn't want to make them worry, besides the guardian knew that as soon as they will learn why he was sick they'll go spread negativity.

Killer was watching him like he was waiting for something and Nightmare wondered if he didn't already know what was wrong with him like he was waiting for Night to tell him. So even if he didn't want to, Nightmare will have to talk about this with Killer.

He sighed and get out of bed when a knock at the door got him out of his thought. He wasn't really surprised to find Killer at the door with his traditional big smile on his face.

"Nightlight! You're awake early does that mean that I can't get cuddles in bed?" The murderer asked, kissing one of the guardian's hands.

Nightmare smiled at the thought of the bed cuddles, they were nice and really appreciated. After the bathroom accident, his friends made sure that he knew he was still loved, and that what he did, didn't define him.
Usually, the bed cuddles were when he couldn't get the strength to get out of bed but why not do them now?

"W-we could still cuddle in my bed if you want..." Shily muttered the now blushing guardian.

As soon as Nightmare said that Killer took him in his arms and started kissing the other cheek and neck with love. Nightmare would have been embarrassed three weeks ago but now he got used to Killer's behavior. Of all of his friends he was the one who showed his affection the most, the others were doing it too but not as much as the little gremlin that was Killer.

Settled on the warm chest of his friend Nightmare was thinking. Could he really call them friends anymore? Deep down he knew that he couldn't, they were more.
Weeks have passed since the proposal they indirectly made to him but the guardian didn't answer yet. Things get complicated with the bathroom accident and the lack of negativity.

Nightmare started purring at the gentle pets that Killer was affectionately doing. The room was silent, only filled by the purring sound coming from the guardian. Nightmare snuggled against Killer's chest, the other always knew how to make him happy even in his worst time. It was like magic, Killer's special power.
