It was a gloomy afternoon and you were walking home from school. The sky was cloudy, grey, and the autumn breeze was cold but not too cold. With the air being fresh, you felt like it was going to rain soon. Walking at a comfortable pace on the sidewalk, you look down and watch leaves crunching as you take every step. You adjust your backpack that was sliding down your shoulder and start to notice your surroundings. The orange and red trees that were on your side, the birds flying around in the grey sky, and cars slowly driving by you. You start to hear the sound of rain pattering on your coat. You hold out your hand and feel cold wet drips on it. Sadly you didn't have any hats or an umbrella, so you just had to deal with the cold rain. The sky started to get darker, and the rain started to get heavier. Soon, you were drenched, and cold. Cars headlights started to turn on and brighten up the road. You started to imagine yourself in a warm blanket drinking hot chocolate by a fireplace, but you didn't like the idea of going home. Just then a van appeared in front of you. Scared for a moment you step back not knowing who it is. Then, a familiar face rolls down the window. It was Eddie. He smiles at you and you smile back.

"You need a ride?" He asks with a wide grin on his face.

You look down at the wet sidewalk and hesitate for a moment before climbing in the passenger side. You set your backpack on the floor of the van and get comfortable. You were soaked. You start to rub your hands together to keep warm. Eddie sees this as a sign and turns on the heaters. You immediately put your hands in front of the vents and hot air began to shoot out from them.

"I can drop you off, what's your address?" Eddie turns to you and waits for a response.

The smile you had on before turned into a frown. You look down in your lap and start to tear up from what he had said. Eddie softly nods and starts driving to his trailer. You wipe away a tear with your finger and then turn your head away towards the window. You look outside but you could barely see anything from the rain. Eddie looks at you every once in a while making sure that you're okay, but also paying attention to the road.

You arrive at his trailer. Eddie takes your backpack and coat and hangs them up for you. You look around, it's not really the prettiest thing you've seen all day but that's okay. You sigh shakily from the cold.

"You can sit on the couch if you want," Eddie said pointing to it.

You nod and head over to the couch. Still and silently, you brush your fingers through your wet hair. You look over at Eddie and he's digging in a basket. He grabs out some blankets and hands them to you.

"Here, these are clean," he says.

"Thank you," you smile, taking them out of his hands.

Eddie smiled and nodded from your response. You never talk that much, I guess it's because you aren't a people person. But, you felt safe with Eddie for some reason. He's such a gentleman. You unfold one of the blankets and drape it over you and you already started to feel warmer.

"So you do talk," Eddie jokes.

"Sometimes," you giggle.

Eddie went back to the kitchen and started rummaging through his cupboards. You wrap yourself tighter in the blanket and lay your head back on the couch resting your eyes. You hear beeping from the microwave and start to wonder what he's doing. You rub your eyes and open them to find Eddie walking over to you with a mug.

"Here," Eddie whispered.

You smile, carefully grabbing the mug out of his hand. The warmness from the mug made your hands feel nice. You look inside to find some hot chocolate, and a few marshmallows here and there. Your smile became wider, it was like he could read your mind or something. Eddie sat next to you watching you drink it. You look back and forth at him slightly confused.

"So, is it good?" Eddie said, flailing his hands around.

You turn to him and laugh.

"Yeah, yeah it's good," you say, setting the mug down on the table in front of you.

Eddie got all excited like he won a prize or something. You felt like you were happy with him, and you stayed over at Eddie's the rest of the night.
