"As a matter of fact, yeah. They were foolproof.
The problem is that you don't have to protect yourself against fools.
You have to protect yourself against people like me."-Jeffery Deaver
The feeling of warmth surrounded me as I felt weak against him. His single arm was around me. It felt nice. Like we were kids again.
I don't know why he was this close.
My brain is pounding against my skull. My ears keep ringing impossibly loud. My throat itches in discomfort. And yet, all I can think about is him: his warmth and this protective aura.
I felt myself look up at him, then felt the sense of needing to protect me in his eyes. They held an odd and unfamiliar softness as he looked down at me against the cold floor. His vermillions searched my face for any sense of pain or discomfort, while he held an irritated expression.
"You... You just saved me?" My voice left my chest and he blinked at me, not registering my words, it seemed.
I move to squirm out of his hold and grit my teeth at the soreness in my back.
"No. You were in the way." He covered his relief that this whole building didn't collapse around us, and I shook my head with a knowing smirk.
"I told you I'd have to stop you." I wheeze lightly, turning my head to the side to cough out the dust in my lungs. I close my eyes at my headache and he gets off of me as the dust settles. At least he sat me down carefully before standing to his feet.
My eyes look at Bakugo from the ground before they set on Izuku. My heart feels heavy when I see how beat up he looks and I sit up.
All Might's voice rings through the training ground.
"The Hero Team wins!"
"Oh, so they did?" I softly speak, giving All Might-Sensei, wherever he could see me, a dirty look. He shouldn't have let it go this far.
The room spins when I keep staring, so I lay back down and hear Recovery Girl's Transpo-bots coming into the room.
My eyes trail up Bakugo's stiff stance and then close harshly. I wouldn't know what he was thinking, but I'm sure it's got something to do with Izuku.
Feeling another pair of Recovery Girl's robots grab under my legs, I blink and suck in a breath when I feel soreness in my ribs. They set me on their stretcher carefully before lifting me off the ground. I look back to Bakugo and see him conflictedly staring outside.
