I toss my bag against the floor with a sharp yawn. I slump onto my bed with a thud.
Today's afternoon class really tired me out.
Readjusting my headphones, I let my playlist continue. My eyes stay glued to the ceiling as I zone out. Amid numbness, a memory fills my brain.
"When I'm older, I'm gonna be number 1!" The excited twelve-year-old blond smiles wildly.
"Uh-huh! And I'll be your sidekick!" I respond, my eyes beaming with hope.
"No. The number 1 doesn't need a sidekick." Bakugo lightly shakes his head, his cheeks puffing out slightly.
"Then what will I be?" I raise a small eyebrow.
"I uh- I don't know."
The music stops playing and my eyebrows furrow.
Why'd it stop?
Raising my phone above my face, I open it to see Izuku calling me.
"Yes, Freckles?" I smile a bit, happy it was him on the other end.
"Mina and Jirou asked me to invite you to a party." He says with that all too familiar shyness behind his words. I sit up, putting the phone to my ear after disconnecting the headphones.
"A party?" A small laugh leaves my lips. "Me? Why- Actually, you know what? Yeah. What time?" I accepted the invite, knowing if I didn't Izuku would be by himself.
"It's some time tonight, I can walk with you. If you want, I mean." He asks with a hint of confidence and I shrug to no one.
"Sure. What kind of party?"
"It's to get to know everyone better and celebrate our progress in class. Momo-Chan suggested it since we've been progressing so much over a few months."
"So casual? Or like dress a little nice?"
"Um, I'd say the second." I hear some voices in the background and he hums before hanging up abruptly. I blink once.
"He must not have meant to hang up." I laugh a bit then stand up, going to my closet. I sift through hangers before pulling out a top, then go to my drawer for bottoms.
[A/n: It can be one of these two outfits or anything you'd like to wear :) ]
Once I get my outfit together, I go freshen up and tie my hair up in a messy bun. Turning my head from side to side, I nod. At least my hair is working with me this time.
I huff and decide to put natural makeup on. By natural, I mean putting some mascara and lipgloss on. Taking my pinky, I swipe away excess gloss from the corner of my lips and I nod at my reflection.
Checking the time, I decided to grab my phone charger. As I reached for it beside the bed, familiar taps against my window caught my attention. I unplug the charger and go over, smiling at Izuku.
"Hey!" I whisper yell before climbing into the window sill.
My legs dangle as I twist my body around to close the window behind me. The sun had just set, and Mom told me she had an early day tomorrow, so she wouldn't be checking on me.
Softly shutting the window, I turn back to Izu and gesture that I'm going to jump, his response being to wave his hands.
"Hold on!" He yells quietly up to me. I see his body glimmer, then he bounces up to the sill. He holds on with his hands, getting a good grip before he looks at me. He had his sneakers planted against the concrete firmly as he smiled.
"Hop on my back." He smiles a little wider and I shake my head, holding a laugh in.
"Always a gentleman, Izuku." I carefully climb onto his back, arms wrapping around his shoulders. His body glimmers again and he bounces from the side of my house to the ground. Blinking a few times, I laugh once I realize what happened.
"You look great, by the way." He folds his hands together and a small patch of pink grows on his cheeks.
"Why, thank you," I dramatically bow before putting my charger up. He bows in response, holding his arm out for me.
"But, of course," he says seriously. We both stare at each other for a second, then burst out laughing. I take his arm, linking it with mine as we calm down from the laughing fit.
Times like these are the best. No adults to ruin the mood, nobody to tell us we look a certain way. Just me and Kats-
I furrow my eyebrows and then look up, seeing Izuku beside me. Not the hothead ash blond.
Just me and Izuku.

Loud music thumped against the silent city as Izu and I made it to the party.
At this point we had unlinked arms, calmly walking side by side. This was Momo's house, if I remembered right since it was big enough to host us all.
We arrive at the front gates and Izuku gestures for me to get onto his back again. I raise an eyebrow.
"A bad boy streak? For you, Izu? Unheard of." I wrap my legs around his waist and tense up as he bends his knees, getting ready to jump.
"For you? Any day." Grinning, his pearly whites make me giggle as he bounces up and over the gate. I'll have to bring up this newfound strength later.
I stare up at the Yaoyarozu mansion intimidated. It was huge!
"S-so this is where Momo-Chan lives?" I feel a sweat bead at my temple as Izuku shakily nods, hand outstretched to ring the bell.
Before he had the chance, the door swung open as Momo smiled sweetly at us.
"Welcome! Please make yourselves at home! Our classmates are already enjoying the party in my dance hall." She steps aside politely as Izuku and I gasp at the expensive taste her family has. She takes in our bewildered expressions and giggles, holding a hand over her mouth.
"If there's anything you need, don't be afraid to ask." She ends her short-lived welcome, parting ways with us as we enter her dance hall.
The loud music we heard from outside was being played by Jirou. I glanced at her jamming out at the DJ table. I can't tell who's who in the dim room, but life is all about experiences.
Taking Izu's hand, I drag the equally socially anxious boy with me to the refreshment tables.
[ Do you still like me like before? ]
