Chapter Fifteen

Dritran's POV

I watched almost helplessly as the guards who had brought Deli in, come and pick up her listless body.

I had never felt so helpless, but also I had never been filled with so much guilt. If I hadn't been so caught up in my own life, I would have noticed the signs of Deli not feeling right. If I had spent more time with her, maybe she wouldn't have attacked Tiffany.

Thomas put his hand on my shoulders, almost as if sensing my thoughts. But I guess that was the perk of having a mate.

"Let's go," He rumbled before leading me out of the courtroom. It was a good thing he did because I honestly couldn't even face Alan at this point. It was cruel to reject your mate, but he knew as the Alpha what he would say could make a difference in the way the case went. But it was clear he didn't care about Deli, and as an extension, he didn't care about me either.

As we made our way out of the building and into the parking lot, I let the tears I had been holding in come out. Thomas quickly ushered me to his car, and we were on our way out of the prison compound before I knew it.

I looked out the window, letting a few tears I had been holding in flow out. "Eyes sewn shut? Then hunted down? This is beyond what normally happens, I don't understand."

He responded, " It is unfair, and it doesn't make any sense, but at the same time, the elders' words are law. Unless we try to sneak her out, there isn't much we can do."

I looked up, "That's it!"

He looked at me suspiciously, "What's it?"

I knew my eyes were practically gleaming, "We sneak her out, and make a break for it."

He laughed, and I had to take a moment to admire his handsome face, before responding, " I'm not joking."

He nodded, clearing his throat, " I know. That's why I am laughing so hard." He gestured to the area, " The White Summit  pack is the number three military power ranking in North America, we are number two in farming, and guess what we are number one in."

I sighed, "Tracking and Hunting." It had been ingrained in us, since the moment we got here, what a privilege it was to be accepted into the White Summit pack. Few were superior to it, and even fewer would ever dare to challenge or defy it.

"Yes, tracking and hunting, so even if we manage to plan everything out to the second, and she is able to escape the land, you know they will track her down. Not because they care about a single prisoner, but because they care about their reputation."

I turned towards him, " I know, plus if word got out that the Alpha rejected his true mate, it would weaken the pack in the eyes of others."

He nodded, "Exactly, so we agree that it's a crazy idea."

"Oh yeah, it's insane, which is why we are going to do it anyway."

Thomas looked at me from the corner of his eyes, as he made his way down the road, " Did you not hear anything I just said?"

"I heard you, and you're right, they would stop at nothing to track her and us down." I paused, "But what if there was a place where they wouldn't be able to track her down, where they would be forced to stop the hunt?"

He let out a short laugh, "Like hell that is possible, the only place that would be is the..." He paused, turning to look at me before refocusing his eyes on the road. "Wait, you're not thinking..."

I nodded, " Exactly, it's the only way, the only chance, and I would rather send her there than see her hunted down. I would rather know she is alive somewhere, then not on this earth anymore."

He looked thoughtful, " I get what you mean, and it could work, but I can't give up my position here, my family is ingrained in it."

"And I wouldn't ask you to, but also I know you know the prison better than anyone. You worked there for years before transferring to become a pack warrior."

He shrugged, " Well you are not wrong."

"And I wasn't given the title of Beta for no reason, I'm a genius when it comes to strategy, offensive and defensive."

He smiled, "Don't become too humble over there Drit."

I smiled back, "I know what I'm good at, and you know you love that about me."

"You know me too well,"

I laughed, " Of course I do, but now we have to plan. Usually, they will roll out punishment within seven days, so we have to get her out by five."

"Five days? Impossible."

I shrugged, "Maybe, but we don't have a choice do we?"

He sighed, " We don't."

I pointed to the horizon, "Onward and upward my good man, we have a lot of planning to do."
