Chapter Twelve
Dele
I woke up to the sound of clanking, a repeatedly annoying sound of metal against metal. I cracked open one eye after the other and stared up at the concrete ceiling trying to gather my thoughts.
What happened, I thought to myself bringing my arms up in front of me and looking at thick bandaging surrounding my wrists. Curious I unwrapped the bandage the one my left arm and gasped when I saw the thick burn marks surrounding my thin wrist. They look like they were made by shackles.
Shackles. Alan. Tiffany. Me attacking.
It all came back to me in a rush as I remembered my violin solo, seeing them dancing, seeing them happy, and attempting to attack Tiffany before Alan stopped me. They must have tranquilized me after shackling me because I was drawing a blank after that moment. I bite my lip deep in thought. Clearly, I had attempted to attack the future Luna of the pack, and the punishment wouldn't be light. But I thought to myself again, I didn't actually succeed with it so my punishment shouldn't be too horrible. I turned my gaze back to the concrete ceiling again, I wanted to feel guilty for my wolf's and I's action but I couldn't bring myself to. Not only had seeing them dance and look so love in love to my piece about my heartbreak and pain make me furious but also knowing Tiffany who had been bullying me relentlessly for years was getting the life that should have been mine made me feel no sympathy.
Pushing me in the bathroom, disgusting notes left in my locker, my music sheets disappearing before pack performances, invading my room and trashing it, dumping chores in the packhouse on me, the list went on. There had never been a point in reporting her as her status was too high, and I didn't want to cause trouble. But that bitch deserved being attacked, and if I had one regret was not getting a bite in. Suddenly something moved out of the corner of my eye, I quickly sat up and looked at the corner of the room. Nothing was there, it was just a shadow I mouthed to myself. A giggle escaped from me, this situation was f*ck*d, here I was in a cell with only myself and my thoughts and I was still thinking I could see the shadows from before.
Shaking my head and now sitting up I looked around the small cell. It was pristine with blindingly white walls, a small toilet, an even smaller sink in the corner, and thick silver bars separating me from the other cells. I stood up and stretched, cracking my neck and moving closer to bars. I could see that the cell directly across from me was empty but directly next to it was an old man with long stringy grey hair. He had a metal cup between his hands was annoyingly dragging it across the bars, careful not to touch them directly with his fingers.
I got closer to bars and cleared my throat trying to get his attention. He continued with his back and forth movements while staring into space. I cleared my throat again with still no response.
"Hey old man, can you stop the banging, its annoying as f**k."
He paused...and then continued again.
" Gosh damn it sir please, I just woke up and I'm trying to process what is going on, and I am also slightly panicking because I don't know what my punishment is going to be, so please, please just stop." I practically begging at this point, but I had meant everything I had said.
He finally stopped and put the cup gently on the floor before turning to me. I had to hold in my gasps, as instead of looking into his eyes, I was looking at thick crisscrossing scars covering his eyelids and with the amount of scarring and thickness they had to have been made by a silver knife. He smiled at me with perfectly white teeth staring back at me.
" See what happens when you use manners, young lady." His voice was surprisingly strong and young-sounding given his older appearance.
I had to laugh at that, " I'm pretty sure I added a Gosh Damnit it in that last part, but thank you."
He grinned again, " You are Deliah Koro." I felt a shiver down my spine, the way he said it wasn't a question but more of a statement.
"It depends on who is asking," I said back in response.
He nodded and turned away and titled his head upwards as if he could hear something, I did the same but couldn't hear anything besides the AC flowing throughout the building.
He whipped his head back towards me and his voice suddenly become raspier, " Betrayed and hurt is what you will face, the dark queen calls back her knight and the call shall be answered. Enter the dark forest with no regrets, and the power you desire will be yours. But be careful for all is not what it seems."
I stumbled back, "What the f**k? What the h*ll was that?" Dark Queen? Deserie? What the he** was he talking about?
He ignored me and picked up his cup again and began that clanking again.
"Hey, hey I'm talking to you, Sir." I hastily added on the end knowing he liked politeness, but I got no response. I was about to call out again when I heard a pair of doors open from what sounded like the end of the hall.
Two guards appeared in front of me with matching pack uniforms that were designed for the special forces. One unlocked the cell and opened it while the other approached with shackles that were to my relief steel this time.
I couldn't see their features from behind the thick helmet that covered their face, but I knew they probably were familiar with who I was aside from the incident.
" Time to go" The one in the cell grunted out as he approached. I took a step back but ended backed into the bunk as the space was so small.
"Go where" I questioned, trying to tug away my arms unsuccessfully and hissing at the pain as the guard grasped them roughly and locked the shackles over my bandages. A chain was attached to them and he started to pull me out of the cell making me stumble at his fast pace.
The other guard closed the cell door behind and seemed to take a bit of sympathy on me " You have visitors, and then have a trial right afterward."
I followed the guard ( as I had no other choice) down the hallway " Trials, Visitors? What is going on." His sympathy must have run out because he just looked forward walking toward the end of the hallway to a set of double doors that had another pair of guards at them.
I looked back to my cell, and to where the old man was. But scarily enough, there was no one there.
"Hey, there was an old man in the cell near me?" I asked my voice shaking a bit.
The guard looked down at me and tilted his head to the side, even though I couldn't see his face I could sense his confusion.
" What do you mean? There is only you in this section."
My eyes widened in shock, and I nodded my head slowly and turned back around.
"Oh"
