Chapter 23

**********

Dritran's POV

I stared at the watcher, wondering if she was out of her mind, and Alan seemed to think so too.

"Everyone but Dritran, out, now." The Alpha command in his voice stiffened the bodies of the others, and they quickly shuffled out of the room.

He turned towards the watcher, weariness mixed with anger in his gaze.

"Okay I need you to start from the beginning. Dritrans sister, my ex-mate whatever, powers, fate of the world, explain."

She shrugged, and sat back down near the fire, this time her back towards the fireplace. It seemed her spilling of secrets or whatever mystics watchers did was done for now.

"That was all I saw. Perhaps the Moon Goddess will make an appearance and explain more."

Alan and I both looked at each other before bursting out laughing. We of course believed in the Moon Goddess, and obviously, we were werewolves so we didn't have much room to speak about mythical creatures and such. But the very idea of her coming down to our pack, when she hadn't made a showing in centuries, literal centuries was hilarious.

"What is so funny?" Our laughter cut out abruptly. As we were facing the watcher we could see that she hadn't spoken at all. Instead her ever color-shifting eyes were focused on something, or someone behind us. But Alan had just sent everyone out with his Alpha command, so there should be no one in the room. Unless...

I quickly turned around, Alan following in suit. And there she was, the Moon Goddess herself. Or at least what was depicted as the Moon Goddess in the many interpretations and drawings that we had been shown since we were mere pups.

She was, otherworldly was the only way to describe her. Her features were strong, so strong it was almost like she wasn't real. Large silver eyes that seemed to reflect the color of the room, but her matching long silver hair almost seemed to shimmer in the room. She didn't seem old, early thirties at most.

Alan and I quickly kneeled down, keeping our heads bent low, not looking up. To be in the presence of the Moon Goddess, I didn't have any words to describe how in awe I was in. But also, a part of me, a large part of me I was afraid to admit was scared. If she was really here, that meant I couldn't ignore what the watcher said. I couldn't ignore the reality of the situation.

"You may rise." At the sound of her voice we looked up and stood. She was tall, just a bit shorter than myself. And you could feel the power radiating off of her.

"Thank you for your warm welcome, I am the Moon Goddess, and like the Watcher said, I am here to explain. Let us sit, it will be a long story."

So we did, with the Watcher still near the fire, she had been eerily quiet since the Moon Goddess had come in, we sat in a circle. The Moon Goddess snapped her fingers and some chairs appeared, made out of what looked to be birch trees and very comfortable.

It was silent until Alan cleared his throat, " So Moon Goddess-"

"Call me Hala." She said with a small smile, and what seemed to be pulled out of thin air, she started to embroider something.

He nodded, "Uh, Hala, thank you for your presence here. We are most appreciative, and the Whitedawn Pack is honored to have you-"

"Enough with the flattery boy, what is your question?"

Alan glanced over at me, and I shrugged, there was no proper protocol for when the Moon Goddess showed up at your doorstep.

"Is what the watcher said true?"
