Hey

Hey

I smiled at my phone, and Thomas bumped my shoulder making me look up at his handsome face.

"Who is making you smile so much?"He grumbled with a slight frown on his face.

I laughed a bit and bumped his shoulder back, "It's my sister you goof, its the first time she has responded back in days."

He growled, " I still don't understand why she had such a bad attitude with you when I was meeting her first the first time."

I thought back to the incident that only happened a few days ago, after Thomas had helped me settle down, I had tried texting and calling her. But Delilah never answered. I was happy that I finally got a response, even if it was only a three-letter word.

"I told you Tom, I can't say what exactly happened to her to respect her privacy, but I promise she is the funniest wolf you would ever meet. I just need to help her through this hard time she is going through. "

He nodded slowly accepting my answer." I get it, but maybe ask her out to dinner or something. You said you haven't gotten to really hang out with her right? Maybe go to your favorite place and try and talk to her more."

I smiled and kissed him on his stubbly cheek, and grinned when he blushed ." You are a genius, my mate,"

He looked bashful but shrugged "It's what I'm here for."

I looked down at my phone again and sent a follow-up text message

Patties at 7?

She sent a simple thumbs-up emoji, but that response made me the happiest I was in weeks.

Do you need a ride?

She sent a gif of the high school musical cast singing no no-no.

I laughed and showed it to Thomas who cracked a smile which for him was equal to a full-on laugh. I bumped shoulders with him again "Told you she funny."

He bumped me back, "And I told you it would be a good idea to meet her for food."

I nodded, "You're right."

He smiled I always am, " But I do want us to talk about eventually telling at least Alan about our relationship."

My good mood evaporated as I thought about the potential repercussions, but I knew I had to eventually. I nodded at my mate will looking into his stunning blue eyes, "I know, I will when the time is right. "

*********

I sat frozen in my seat as a stared at a shell of my sister. I could see the bags under my eyes, more apparent than when I had seen her just a week ago. Her normally full cheeks were hallowed, leaving sharp cheekbones jutting out. She was looking thin, too thin and pale even with her brown skin. I was worried about her, but I didn't know what to do. It seemed the more I tried to talk to her the more she pulled away from me.

Ever since we had escaped from our old pack we had been thick of thieves, as alike as we are different. We were always there for each other, but ever since her confession to me it was like my own blood was a stranger to me.

"Dele?"

She barely looked up, picking up her burger that I know that she would have been chowing down only a month before. I could barely recognize her, my own sister. How could I have let this happen, had I been so blinded that I let it get to this point?
