Chapter 29

Dritran's POV

I strapped on my arm guards, watching everyone scrambling from just outside the window of my tent on the outskirts of camp. We had made it to the entrance of the Dark Forest and were waiting for them to come out. It was lucky that the person on the inside was able to give us information about their exact location.

It was finally the day of the battle. If there was any last minute doubts that this was happening, Hala's image that she showed all of us, of Delilah marching next to Hecate dispelled any doubts some of may have had.

Hala entered the tent just as I finished putting on the last of my armor.

"Are they almost here?" I asked, nervous for what was to come. I had been training with Hala, and I felt confident in the use of my powers. But this was my sister, my twin that I was training to battle with, training to end her life. And even after all that had happened, I wasn't sure if I could truly do it.

Hala nodded," She is, along with my sister Hecate. I promise you the woman that this coming here, she is not your sister anymore. The darkness that had always been swirling inside has finally realised, and you will not recognize her anymore, and you MUST end her."

I nodded not turning to look at her, least she see the hesitation on my face. "I will be out in five minutes."

She left without a word. And I sat on the floor of the tent, thinking back to what Thomas had said to me only the day before. Bellum Contra Fate. But does that matter if my sister came at me full force? I shook my head, now was not the time. I had to fight, I had to. There was no other way.

I stood and adjusted my armor for the last time. Walking out, it was a sight to see. Over 20 packs from the surrounding area came to support. Yes we were the biggest pack in North America, but that included children, the elderly and those who were just not warriors. Having the help of other packs would help boost our numbers in this war. Crows crooned in the distance, a bit of an ominous sign in my opinion.

I made my way to the main white tent that was served as the headquarters. Walking in there were various of couches and cushions with Alphas, Betas, and Gammas from neighboring packs. I nodded to them as I made my way to the middle of the area.

I saw Hala in her full battle gear, still wearing her signature flowing white dress, but also wearing a Helment that replicated a wolf's snarling head, and her own armor. On anyone else the juxtaposition of the armor and dress would have clashed, but on her it looked elegant and like she was always meant to go to battle. And maybe in a way she was.

Alan and Thomas, along with a few others were leaning over the table looking at the map we had drawn out.

I came up and gently pushed Thomas aside with my elbow making room for me at the table. I gave him little wink before rereading the map I had memorized weeks ago. It laid out our position, and how we surrounded most of the southern entrance of the Dark Forest.

"-I don't see why we don't head into the Dark Forest ourselves, they should be here in less than 20 minutes, we can catch them even more off guard." It was an alpha from the pack closest to us, The Dawnlight pack. He was always known for being a bit over eager when it came to anything military-related.

Alan spoke up, "Yes we could do that, but 1" he started ticking off his fingers, "The Dark Forest is literally Hecate's domain, she would know immediately where we are and definitely use it to her advantage. Honestly she probably already knows we are out here waiting for here with the amount of crows all over this place. " Another finger went up, "2, we already have been formautalting this plan for weeks, why would we change it twenty minutes before they are supposed to be here?" The last finger went up, " And 3 you may be an Alpha but you do not make any decisions on this battle field." Alan gave a side glance to me before looking at the other Alpha.
