21 - the strange invitation

after he had finally snuck out of the paint studio, he made sure not to run into xavier. he didn't know why he was hurt by him going to the dance with wednesday. he didn't care. he didn't even like boys. and he certainly didn't like that rat faced cun- maybe he did like him. but it was so confusing. xavier kisses him but says yes to wednesday. none of it made sense. did he even mean to kiss him? why would he ever kiss him? he's not even half as pretty as bianca, or as interesting as wednesday.

"we're going shopping." enid squealed as she seemed to pop out of thin air in front of him. only then did he notice his gloom walk to the castle.

"i'm going to bed." he groaned, rolling his eyes as he moved to pass her. only for wednesday to be stood behind her. great, just fucking fantastic.

"if i have too, you do too.'' wednesday mumbled, linking her arm with his and dragging him along. not even bothering to argue as he saw xavier round the corner. his face lighting up and he made the first move to lead the girls away. xavier's smile faltered as the boy ran away from him. enid and wednesday followed shortly behind. letting the two girls lead him to jericho, only to find themselves standing before a very pink shop, the flowers were cool but god the pink. it was sickening. no, it was revolting.

"the dance committee suggested all white to match the theme but that's not going to fly with us." enid spoke as she turned from the shop to the two who looked at it with the most disrespectful looks of disgust.

"i have more pressing business than to worry about than a stupid dress for a dance i don't want to attend.'' wednesday spoke the truth. she was planning to talk to the sheriff. it was written all over her face and enid's face fell.

"but i thought we were bonding." she mumbled, sounding wounded from the girls lack of interest in shopping and peter felt bad. knowing he'd regret it he spoke out.

"it's okay enid, i'll stop with you." her face lit up once more as wednesday turned to glare at him, clearly had been planning to attempt to drag him off to. and he had chosen to be enid boy's opinion for the rest of the day. walking into the shop was like stepping into a bakery, a sick sweet cake scent filled their oses girls rush around giggling trying to choose dresses.and he let enid pull him around. pulling all kinds of pink dresses from the racks. when he found the most enid dress he could find. it was pink and sparkled lightly. the tinsel seemed braided into the threads of the dress and it had fur with tinsel bits too.

"oh peter." she cried, stopping before it. her eyes wide in admiration. the look of love written on her face as she grabbed at, squealing in delight as she went to buy it as he continued just roaming around. he wasn't going to the rave'n so he didn't need to find a suit. and he found himself outside. walking down one of the streets before he caught sight of the most beautiful dress he had ever seen for wednesday. it was black of course. the skirt layered and looked almost like raven feathers.

"do you want a drink?" enid questioned catching up with him only to find what he was staring at, her eyes going wide.

"that's perfect for wednesday." she mumbled and he nodded before grabbing her hand. carrying on with his trip towards the weathervane. he wondered if tyler was in. but as the bell rang as they entered. they found a lack of the galpin boy. enid moved to get them a booth as peter went to buy the drinks.

"two hot chocolates. both with cream, one with tons of marshmallows." he commented and they nodded before rushing off. they were new, he could tell with the skittish behaviour. and side glances to someone behind him. he was side-eying enid. he was scared. they were nevermore students after all. yoko and davina joined the pair as they sat at the table. listening to endi rant about her new dress to the two.

"is it okay if i talk to enid?" a voice called and three sets of eyes turned to look at the boy. it was the mayor's son. and enid motioned for them to leave as she smiled. what did he want?

"don't worry. i can handle him." she told him and he nodded. sending one more threatening look to lucas.

"i'll be over here." he whispered to enid, rising out of the seat as she ginned. making his way over to the counter when he collided with someone else. cups slamming to the floor and shattering. finding the blue of dark hair as the person dropped to their knees. apologising greatly as she tried to pick up pieces. gotta love trauma responses.

"lily?" he questioned, leaning down to help the girl stop picking up the pieces. scared she'd cut herself.

"i'm really sorry peter." she spoke as one of the workers came over to wipe it with a broom.

"no it's okay."

and the two started talking, she was asking him about how his power worked when the bell rang once more. lily looked over her shoulder to find her best friend leading xavier thorpe in. taliah and xavier were friends, ever since he had helped her calm after a panic attack.

"say peter, would you like to come to the rave'n with me?" she randomly questioned. leaning forwards to grab his hand and his eyes widened slightly. he hadn't expected that. and lily watched as xavier's face fell from the corner of her eyes. the pearl of her teeth glowing brightly as she grinned.

"are you serious?" taliah grinded her teeth together slightly. not liking how peter was now looking at lily but she carried on. dropping into the spot beside her best friend. forcing xavier to drop beside him.

"so you got a date to the dance?" xavier commented, staring between lily and peter. almost seeming jealous before he masked it with friendly banter. peter laughed slightly. taliah's hand resting over lily's under the table. and enid came rushing over.

"did he ask you out?"

"he asked me to the dance!" she squealed and peter smiled, he knew something was up with lucas. some kind of ultra motive behind his actions. but enid was happy, so peter was too.
