24- the red means i love you

and click. he found himself storming up to them. time seemed to slow as he pushed through the crowd. wanting to stop lily from kissing peter. she wasn't going to anyway but xavier didn't know that.

"what the fuck is wrong with you." peter cried as lily pushed xavier away. a pissed off look appearing on her face.

"get the fuck away from him." he snarled and lily took her leave. walking over to dance with taliah.

"what is your problem?"

"her, is she manipulating you?" he spat. grabbing a hold of peter's shirt as if he was going to fight him. when infact his eyes were scanning peters, looking for the misty look. and it was peter who made the first move this time. leaning up as xavier leaned down. lips meeting in the middle. cold meeting warm. he kissed xavier passionately. as if it were their last kiss. xavier's lean hands grabbing peter's cold pale neck. lily wore a grin as she turned to her girlfriend.

"i told you it would work." she grinned, baring her teeth lightly as her girlfriend giggled. lily had tricked the two boys. sick of their bullshit. everyone knew they were down bad for each other, everyone minus the other. even ms weems had tried to play in by making them roommates. but lily had noticed one trait about xavier. jealousy. he had been jealous and possessive so he lost his shit. at first taliah had been upset with her girlfriend's suggestion, not wanting her to play into the evil siren stereotype. but she did what she had to do.

"i like you." peter mumbled as he pulled away. peter's cold touch lifted to the boy's face. brushing his fingers towards his ear, tucking the single strand which had fallen out of his bun behind his ears. xavier minted breath still waffing on his face, the taste of chocolate lingered on xavier's tongue.

"i wish you were a girl." xavier spoke softly as his green eyes fluttered shut.

oh.

and peter pulled back, his touch seemed to make his skin icy. disgust. rage. sadness. filled peter in a whirlwind of emotions as his words played in his head. and he felt his heart drop to his stomach. and red started to dribble from above. was this his carrie moment? xavier eyes had snapped open, finally realising what he said as the vanilla scent fainted away. wiping the red from his face, were they tears or was it the blood? the shirt was soaked through, he felt bad for theo. red painting over the white of everything. in the rain screamings of others surrounded them as they realised it was blood. the droplets of red sprinkling from above as the boy made his way through the quickly bloodied dancers.

"they couldn't even spring for real pigs blood." wednesday spat as her excitement about the red blood faded. it was only paint. peter watching wednesday get thrown around before her head snapped up. vision. and he ran for her, grabbing her bicep only to see a split second of eugene screaming before she snapped out of it.

"wednesday, what's wrong?" he questioned.

"eugene's in the woods. he's in danger." she mumbled before bucking it for the exit. peter quick to follow only for xavier to grab his hand. pulling him back into his chest.

"please don't." he cried. but peter couldn't care less about what xavier's opinions were. not anymore. he wouldn't let wednesday just run into the woods looking for a monster on her own. he knew she could handle it, but what if she couldn't? and the warm grip finally slipped from his cold hand so peter ran after wednesday. the two figures disappearing into the dark woods. xavier felt his heart crack with every step, why couldn't he just be normal? maybe his father was right, he was a fucked up disappointment. not like vincent had spoken the words but he knew. they went inside, bloodied figures blending into lanky trees. something was eerily quiet about the woods. until it wasn't. an animalistic grow and a scream.

"eugene!" eugene!" wednesday screamed crying to diepcher the direction of the scream. spinning in circles. not knowing where to go.

"wednesday, over here!" a boy cried, for a moment he wondered, the possibility of a sin walker. but he continued. he ran in the direction of eugene's scream. he had long since took off from wednesday. the girl was running nowhere as fast as needed in that dress. he let out a cry as he watched the beast pull away from eugene, covered in blood. and it loomed over him. this was the painting. the one from xavier's shed. he was the shadowed figure once more. he couldn't even scream, it strangled in his throat. it stared him down, almost debating if it were to hurt him or not. till wednesdays voice sounded calling peter's name. and he felt the beast slash a cut at his arm before scrambling to disappear into the woods.

"peter!'' the beast heard wednesday shout before disappearing. watching the red eyes fade into the dark as wednesday came running off. everything hurt, yet at the same time nothing at all did.

"peter." she cried as she dropped to her knees at his body. he was alive. but eugene, she wasn't so sure. more red was seeping from peter's shirt. but unlike the watery paint it was dark red, definitely blood.

"is he okay?" ms thornhill cried, but wednesday couldn't decide which one she was talking about. her face was devastated, not scared nor horrored. devastated. and her eyes lingered on peter. the boy groaned as he tried to move his arm. the look of pain evident on his face. but he was okay.
