~ DONA NOBIS PACEM ~

AMBERLE'S POV

A few hours later, I was sitting in front of the fireplace on one of the armchairs in the Boarding House library, peering between Kai - who was tied up in the chair opposite me, still unconscious - and Enzo, who lay sleeping on the couch nearby.

After the dramatics that had taken place at the school earlier in the day, I'd collected my things from outside then drove Enzo and me back to the Boarding House, with Kai's six-foot ass horizontally squished along the backseats. Once home, Enzo carried him inside and unsympathetically dropped him in the chair.

Enzo was clearly exhausted, fighting to stay awake every second thanks to the vervain attack he'd endured, so I'd told him to go take a nap.

"I don't want to leave you alone with him," he'd said - to which I'd replied, "I'll be fine, I can look after myself."

For once, he chose to believe me - probably because he didn't have the energy to fight me on it - and trudged towards the couch before flopping onto it and falling asleep almost immediately.

Enzo looked peaceful and slumbered quietly, not even a snore escaping his throat. He'd desperately needed it, that much was clear.

When he finally woke up again, his lids fluttered open before he peered around, brows slightly furrowed in confusion. His gaze swiftly landed on me, however, and he instantly relaxed.

I smiled softly at him. "Hey."

Enzo groaned, pushing himself to sit up. "How long was I asleep?"

"About two hours." Getting to my feet, I grabbed the blood-bag I'd recently retrieved and walked over to hand it to him.

"Thanks," he murmured, taking it from me. After a long sip, he nodded towards Kai. "Still nothing from our stalker?"

I sighed, glancing over my shoulder at Sleeping Beauty. "Nope," I grumbled, making my way towards him. Lifting the back of my palm, I pressed it against Kai's forehead before touching his throat with two fingers. "His pulse is fine... his temperature is normal... so at least he's not dead," I grumbled with a roll of my eyes. "He's just being annoying."

Enzo scoffed from behind me. It was silent between us for a few moments; I refused to look in his direction again.

Suddenly, Enzo sighed. "Listen, love, about what I said-"
