~ QUI TOTUM VULT TOTUM PERDIT ~

6 Weeks Ago ~ AMBERLE'S POV

After my third nap of the day, as I lay on the library couch under my mom's blanket, I suddenly woke up with a craving for a snack. Sitting up, I rubbed my eyes, surprised to find Enzo was nowhere to be seen.

As if reading my mind, the vampire suddenly appeared in the doorway; I grinned weakly at his entrance.

"Oh, good. You're awake," he greeted me cheerily. "How do you feel?" Heading in my direction, he brought over a tray holding two cups and something I couldn't figure out from this distance.

"Still a little groggy but I'm better," I replied truthfully, though grateful for his immediate company.

Enzo nodded in understanding. "There we are," he said, handing me one of the teacups. "Freshly brewed just for you."

Peering down at the contents, I recognised the light beige shade of English breakfast tea, complete with milk and sugar. "Thank you," I said, taking it from him with trembling fingers. Lifting the rim to my lips, I sipped the hot liquid, instantly relieved by the warmth spreading through my chest. "Mm," I hummed. "Does this make me an honorary Brit now?"

"Once you have one of these," Enzo teased, offering me the tray in closer proximity, "maybe."

Glancing at the array of sweet confectionary, I arched a brow, intrigued. "Cookies?"

"Biscuits," he corrected, shooting me a disapproving look. "And not the... strange kind you Americans have," he added with a dismissive flick of his wrist. "It took some digging but I managed to find some good ol' Digestives."

Spotting one covered in a layer of milk chocolate, I went straight for it. With a grin, I prepared to take a bite excitedly.

"Ah, ah-"

Enzo's warning tone made me pause immediately, staring at him in confusion, my hand halfway to my mouth. His gaze flicked to the cup meaningfully.

"What?" I questioned, unable to take a hint.

"Dip it," he elaborated.

"In what?" I asked with a blink. "In the tea?"

Enzo smiled. "Trust me," he said, placing the tray on the coffee table. "Have I ever led you astray before?"
