The Mentally Brave

Chapter 10

"Can I take my hand away? Or are you going to wake up the rest of the neighborhood with your screaming?" Perrie asks me. She pulls away her hand, sitting on my bed smiling

"What? How did you get into my room?" I whisper to her

"Did you forget already? I can get into almost anywhere, your home was quite easy" She grins while getting up, looking around the room.

"Will you tell me what you're doing here?" I ask her. This is so surreal, Perrie Edwards school queen in my room.

"Well I thought you might have some more questions" She glimpses at me, then goes back to looking at my things on the dresser.

"Aren't you supposed to go with Ed somewhere? You said something about having an early start" I rub my eyes trying to figure out what she's doing here.

"That is the other reason I'm here. Ed and I thought it could be a nice idea for you to join us, then you can understand everything better" She turns to look at me

"Where are you going?" I question her

"You'll see" She tilts her head 'Just make up your mind fast or the Xmen will get to him first' she thunks

"Xmen? That's how you nicknamed the Company X people?" I eye her

"So are you coming or not?" She shrugs at me.

"I'm in, give me a moment" I say getting out of bed as fast as I can in my still sleepy state.

"I'll be waiting in the car across the street, don't take long" And just like that she is out the window. I run to where I just saw her disappear and looked out. She was already at the front gate. As she walks she glances back at me and waves. I run to my closet to get some clean jeans out and a Jumper. I wash my face and brush my teeth, pulling on my clothes at the same time.

I run down the stairs putting my hair in a high bun. I walk out the door and to where Perrie is waiting in the car with Ed.

"Here" Ed hands over a cup of coffee as I get in "You'll be needing this"

"Thanks" I take it from his hand, offering him a small smile. He is definitely not who I first thought he was. He has something very sweet and gentle about him, not at all the killer vibe I had at first.

"So who are we trying to get to before Company x does?" I ask after taking a sip.

"His name is Luke Hemmings. Australian, he is 18 and if he can do what Liam thinks he can do, then we really need to get to him first" Perrie hands over a file.

I stare at the photo of the boy. He has blond hair and blue eyes. Looks much younger than 18.

"What does Liam think he can do?" I am leaning in between the two front seats.

"Liam says that Luke can teleport" Ed looks ahead not taking his eyes off the road

"You don't actually think he can.. that is crazy" I look through the file again reading some more about the boy.

"What is he doing in the UK then?"

"He commits little crimes, like teleporting in to a bank safe and taking money and such" Perrie answers.

"That is a little crime? How do you know about this?" I wave the file

"Liam looks for these kinds of things, letting us know if the person can be a match" Ed answers

"For instance these little crimes are too good to be true. And the security camera got a glimpse of Luke. Good thing Liam saw it first and erased it"
