the prologue.

juno le bom was sitting on her balcony which overlooked the rocky brighton beach. she had a hot cup of tea beside her and was strumming her acoustic guitar as she watched the waves hit the shore, as well as people walking up and down the pier.

this was a frequent occurrence with juno. she loved to watch the sea to distract her from all of the bullshit in the world. if juno could stay there forever, on her balcony with the summer breeze rushing through her hair, the sounds of the sea just mere metres away from her, playing old music, she would.

juno's life wasnt always this peaceful, in fact her childhood was quite the opposite. she grew up in bushey, a small area just north of london, with her junkie mum and older brother, simon. her mum was never emotionally stable, and constantly abusing hard drugs. because of this, juno's brother was more of a guardian figure for her. in fact, in 1977 when simon turned 18 and juno was 7, he fought for and won custody over juno so he could get her out of that environment.

all simon wanted was for juno to have been young enough to forget the abuse, drug addiction, alcoholism and everything else that happened in that household. he wanted juno to have the happy, well off childhood that he never had.

one year later, simon had been renting a flat for him and juno in london. he had also joined a new wave band called 'duran duran' with a few of his friends. as a 7 year old, juno didn't fully understand what that meant, however she absolutely adored her brother and looked up to him and the rest of the band.

simon would bring juno along to band practices since she was too young to be alone, and juno had really taken a liking to their bassist, john taylor. she started to view john as an uncle figure, and for her 8th birthday, he even bought her her own epiphone embassy bass to play.

fast forward a few years, circa 1983, a 13 year old juno was becoming a pretty solid bassist. with help from john, she could play the baseline to almost any song with tabs, and could even shred some solos. at this point, duran duran was becoming one of the biggest bands in england, and so simon wasn't home a lot of the time. this caused juno to become a very responsible, independent teen. she could take care of herself no problem.

this didn't stop simon from calling every morning and night, to make sure juno had eaten, finished her homework, and most of all making sure she was safe.

since simons booming success with his band, he was able to send juno to a boarding school in central london for college in 1986. this gave simon peace of mind knowing she was safe with other students and teachers. right?

wrong.

juno had become quite accustomed to the party life at her school. on weekends, hee and her friends would travel all around britain, going to random parties they'd heard of.

in 1988, she had taken the train to a house party in manchester, where she began talking about music with a boy called noel. he had been talking about how him and his brother were thinking about starting a band, and juno had jokingly asked if they needed a bassist, to which he replied yes.

fast forward to 1991, and that hypothetical band was turned into a reality and juno found herself becoming the bassist of what was soon going to be one of the most iconic 90's bands, oasis.
