I'm terrified. Alone in my bed. I can hear my father yelling. He never yells. I get out of bed and sneak downstairs. There is my father fighting with another man. I smell the burning wood. I'm in my bed. My father is yelling. I sneak downstairs. I'm scared. There's a man. I can smell the alcohol. I'm in my bed.
I wake up in a cold sweat. The same nightmare I've had since I was fifteen. I reach over to my nightstand to take a swig of the bottle of whisky there. I need the smell to remember. No matter what I do, I can't see his face. One day I will remember and he will pay for what he did to my family.
None of us have been the same since my father died. I can't think about that now. I need to get back to sleep to try and see his face. I take another swig and lay back down. This time, no dreams came.
I get up and take a shower. I have class in an hour. I get out and put on my cedarwood essential oil to mask my scent. I don't want to be recognized by other wolves. Goddess forbid I run into my mate. I have more pressing issues to deal with
I finish my classes without anyone hassling me. I walk back to my apartment where I complete all of my assignments. My roommate has been MIA for the last four days. If she doesn't come back tonight I may start worrying. She's been known to stay at her boyfriend's place for days at a time.
I just transferred to this school after a witch told me he was in the area. Cost me three vials of blood but it was worth it for the falsified transcripts and identification. I had to find him. It was my obsession. I couldn't go back to living until I settled this. He must pay for what he has done.
I changed into a black, gray, and white checkered shirt dress. I put on thigh high stiletto boots to complete the look. I wore my short, blonde haired wig and put on dark red lipstick, mascara to finish the look.
The outfit
Tonight I was going on the prowl. Visiting as many seedy bars as I could. Maybe I would catch his scent. That reminds me to refresh my scent blockers. I put on my oils and head to the first bar.
This bar is pretty rundown. The bar stool is sticky. I can only imagine from what. I take a seat anyway and order a white Russian. I sip my drink as I discreetly check out the other patrons. I can smell there are no other wolves present. I chug my drink and then leave.
As I make my way to the next bar on my list, my phone rings. I look at the caller ID and see it is Amanda, my roommate. I pick up.
"Speak," I say.
"Kelly. Where are you? Erik and I had a huge fight. I need you," she says.
Kelly is not my actual name. It's the name I go by. I haven't shared my name with anyone in years.
"I'm at the bar," I say.
"Which one? I'll join you," she says.
"Spenser's," I say.
