Gideon POV

As soon as the witch lifted the field, Gabriel dashed forward grabbing the kidnapper by the neck and snapping it.

"No!" Camille screamed.

"What's wrong?" Gabriel asked.

"I wanted him to pay for his crime. I wanted to see him in jail," she says. "His children are going to think he just disappeared."

"I'm sorry," he says, not sounding sorry at all.

Camille came running into my arms. I grabbed her, sniffing her hair. Gabriel joined us making it a group hug.

"Let's just get out of here please," Camille says.

"We just have to do some clean up," I said.

"Lora can take her home then we can finish up here," Gabriel said.

"I'm not letting her out of my sight," I say.

"Lora, take them home. I'll clean up here," Norella says. "It's the least I can do."

Lora has us home in a blink. Camille runs upstairs to Kelsey's room. I chased after her so she wouldn't wake her up. Gabriel joins us upstairs but he heads to the bassinet.

After kissing Kelsey, Camille goes over and takes Julian from Gabriel crying as she does so. "I can't believe I was almost trapped there. I thought I was never getting home," she says.

"We would have never let that happen," Gabriel said. "You're safe with us."

She put the baby down and hugged him. "I knew you guys would get me out of there. The only thing I need now is a run."

I didn't say anything. I didn't want to share my spot even with Camille. I enjoyed the privacy I had there. I'm sure she'd understand.

"Kelsey's father is dead. I don't know how I feel about that," she says.

"What do you mean?" Gabriel says.

"I just hope it's not going to be another thing weighing me down. How am I going to explain all of this?" She asks.

"Why would this weigh you down?" I ask. "He kidnapped you. You can't feel sympathy towards him."

"Toward him, no. It's Kelsey I'm thinking about. I can't imagine what knowing all of this will do to her," she says.

"You have plenty of time before you have to cross that bridge," Gabriel says.

"Everything just feels so unresolved. I don't know. Maybe it's just me," she says.

She comes over to me and placed her arms around me. "Would you take me for a run?" She asked.

"Of course I will," I say.

"You'll run with me?" She asks.

"If that's what you want," I say.

I pull her arms from around me and go take a shower. I didn't want to make any more promises when it came to running. That is the only time I have to myself and I won't give it up.

I could hear them in the hallway. I wasn't in the mood to join them so I chose to go to the kitchen and get something to eat. I fell asleep right at the dining room table. Camille came down and brought me up to bed.

The next day, I brought her to the first spot I found to run. She reveled in the freedom running gave us. I chased her down, tackling her. She shifted looking exhilarating. I joined her and we made love right on the forest floor.

We returned home and took a shower. In less than a month, we'll be making our way back home. I couldn't wait.
