Chapter 9

~Three months Later~

Kade Pov

It's three months later. Dexter's mom has gotten custody of Me, Addison, and Gracie about 2 weeks after that thing with dad. Dexter and I moved into my parent's house. My birthday is in a week. I will be 18. Dexter and I decided to do online school. It's fun to do it online. You can be in your house and don't have to worry about bullies or anyone. I never went to that hospital because I didn't want to go. In this house are Dexter and me. But sometimes my sisters come over. It's a Saturday so that means Dexter is working at 4. It's only noon right now. I am in the living room watching tv and Dexter is in our bedroom playing games with Colt. But I look at the stairs and I see Dexter. He walks toward me and sits on the couch next to me and pulls me into his side. "Babe, What do you want to do for your birthday"? Dexter asked. "I don't want to do anything. I just want to hang out with you and my sisters". I said looking up at him. "We have to do something". Dexter said looking at me. "We really don't. But you can get me a present". I said. "Ok". Dexter said and just looked at the tv and we watched tv. I fell asleep.

Dexter Pov

I want him to have a party for his birthday. Then at night, it will be just us two. I know he doesn't have a lot of friends but he needs this. This is his first birthday without his mother. I want it to be special for him. He is turning 18. My birthday was just spent with my family and Kade. I love him so much. This summer I am planning a road trip somewhere. On his birthday we are going to have a party. I invited my parents, Addison, Stella, Gracie, Oakley, and Colt. I am glad that I am doing this for him. He deserves it. He is dealing with so much. I have to go to work in about 3 or 4 hours so I am just going to watch tv until then.

~2 hours later~

Kade Pov

I woke up on the couch with a blanket and a pillow. I get up and check the time and it's 2 pm right now. I get up and go to the bathroom and did my business and then went upstairs to Dexter's and my bedroom and checked to see if he is in there. He is playing video games. I go over and get in his lap and cuddle him. I see he muted and he said. "Hi, Babe. How was your nap". Dexter said wrapping his arms around me and then kissing me on the lips. "Good". I said and put my head on his chest. "What do you want to do for the next 2 hours". Dexter said. "I don't know. Just watch tv and cuddle". I said. "Ok, we can do that". Dexter said and that's what we did.

~1 Hour Later~

We are still cuddling on the couch but then Dexter's phone rings. "Hello". Dexter said and i was only able to listen to his side. "Yeah, no problem". Dexter said and hung up. "Who was that". I asked. "Tyler from work. I have to come in early". Dexter said moving me to the side and getting up. "Aw ok". I said sadly. "Babe I only work for 4 to 5 hours. You can come to work with me if you want". Dexter said and I jumped up he caught me and I wrapped my legs around his waist. "Ok, let me go take a shower and get dressed". I said. "I have to take one too". Dexter said and then he walked up to our bathroom in our room.

~After the shower~

We finished our shower and got dressed. I am wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans and Dexter's hoodie and my shoes. Dexter is wearing a white button-up and black jeans and his shoes. "Ok, let's go, babe". Dexter said and we went downstairs he got his keys and wallet and we went out to the car and got in it he turned on the car and he drove to Pancake World.

~A week later~

Dexter Pov

Tomorrow is Kade's birthday and I am planning on surprising him with a party. I rang Addison to talk about tomorrow. After a few rings, she picks up. "Hey, Dexter what's up". Addison said. "Hey, Addi. Are we ready for tomorrow". I said. "Yeah we are but you have to go get his present today". Addison said. "Ok. Do you want to help me pick it out for him"? I said. "No, you should do it". Addison said. "Ok see you tomorrow". I said. "Ok, Bye". Addison said and I hung up the phone.
