The air was filled with the fresh scent of the roses and the prominent smell of lavenders with caramel scented candles that blessed the dimly lit hall with magnificent beauty that adorned the beautiful venue.
A slow romantic song was playing in the background as all the people emptied the dance floor as the man dressed in black suit his beautiful wife, dressed in a bodycon white dress to the centre and the light focused on the couple.
The newly wed started to move with the slow music, their heart felt the meaning of the song they were dancing to for the first time as a husband and wife. Their gaze was fixed on each other as if no one was present, as if no one mattered except for them while their eyes sang a tale of love to each other.
The man who stood near the bar area with a glass of champagne in his hand looked at the couple dancing, his hand swirling the content inside the glass as he absentmindedly let his light brown eyes lingered on the couple with a bit of envy that clouded his gaze.
"Are you perhaps regretting breaking up with Kathy, now that she is getting married to her best friend?" The light brown eyed man, dressed in a black suit with white button up shirt turned to his side as his friend's words reached his ears.
His lips curled up a little, forming a small smile on his handsome face as he slightly shook his head and raised the glass a little towards his friend before bringing it to his mouth as he slowly sipped the liquor in.
"Alastair," he heard his friend call his name but he did not turn to look at him this time and simply focused on the couple that was dancing happily and looked so in love. "You shouldn't have come to the wedding." His friend continued making the brown eyed man whose name was Alastair tore his gaze from the couple and looked at his friend before finally opening his mouth, "And why is that?" the words slipped out of Alastair's mouth rather nonchalantly and it seemed to bother his friend a bit.
His friend let out a frustrated sigh and said, "You just don't attend your ex's wedding." His friend shrugged his shoulder before continuing, "And the way you have been looking at them ever since you have arrived is kind of weird, as if you are jealous." His friend exclaimed, making Alastair stare at him for a minute, silently as he processed his words.
Alastair let out a light chuckle before shaking his head a little as he smiled in amusement, "I am indeed jealous." He agreed and the affirmation in his tone made his friend look at him with wide eyes and pursed lips.
Alastair's smile only widened upon seeing the aghast expression of his friend and he fought off a strong urge to laugh out loud, "Do you see the newly wed there?" he spoke as he pointed his finger at the couple who was still dancing, oblivious of their surrounding and too lost in each other.
"I am not jealous of them being together." He started, "I am jealous of what they have. I am jealous of what they feel towards one another and I am jealous of what each of them made each other feel."
"I am jealous because I have no one in my life who has looked at me the way Kathy is looking at her man, I have no one in my life to look at that way. My eyes had never looked at anyone with adoration, want, desire and love all at once." Alastair stopped for a second as a flicker of memory from the past clouded his mind but he instantly pushed it away.
