"what do you wanna eat?" scott asked lexa as they entered the coffee place.
"cappuccino and a cinnamon sugar bagel for me thanks!" lex said as she was looking for a table seat for them.
"great choice, imma go for a macchiato intead though." scott chuckled.
after they ordered their food, they got to the closer table seat and fortunately it was also a good one, right next to the window, so they could see the sun rays crossing the glass and placing on the table.
the food finally arrived and while lex was actually enjoying it, scott was barely biting his bagel, as if he wasn't hungry at all.
lex noticed it, but didn't want to be rude about it, what if something was going on?
"be honest, this was just an excuse to spend more time with me." lex joked about it to see a reaction from scott.
he awkwardly smiled and nodded: "uh no, you got me!"
lex faked a smile and said nothing. she was trying to be nice and the way scott said it, made lex feel weird.
of course they barely knew each other, but she already understood scott had a special effect on her, while he was giving mixing signals: he got her sleeping at his place, he got her a ride and now? it felt like he made fun of her.
"okayyy i really enjoyed this, but i have to go. i'll pay for both of us to thank you for everything." lex said getting up and grabbing her purse. "we'll see you around i guess."
"no hey wait." scott said grabbing her hand. "i can give you a ride home."
"i don't wanna bother, also i have some errands to do." lex said remembering her cousin's text.
"i can come with you." scott said rapidly.
she opened her eyes widely because she didn't really expect scott to say that.
so he really does want to spend time with me.
or not. don't daydream too much lex.
"if i can, of course." scott said shyly.
lex smiled trying not to show too much excitement and after they payed, well after scott payed, they got out of the coffee place and got into the car.
"so, what next?" scott asked looking at her, while she pretended to look for something in her purse, trying to avoid eye contact.
"it's not a big deal, i can go by myself.." lex couldn't even finish speaking because scott immediately shushed her placing his index on her lips.
it goes without saying that that gesture made lex feel billions of butterflies in her stomach and it was like all the blood in her body flowed to her face.
eventually scott convinced her to go with him, but the actual thing was that lex didn't need to be convinced because she did want him to go with her, but was too proud to admit.
or probably she was too scared to show her feelings.
"so your mom's birthday is in a couple of days, that's cool." scott said as the two of them were walking.
"yup and my grandma asked me to buy a bouquet of red roses to surprise her." lex explained.
"that's so sweet, i bet your mom's gonna love it." scott said opening the door of the flowers place letting lex enter first.
as they entered, their nostrils were overwhelmed by the sweet and delicate smell of the flowers that were there. it was so relaxing.
lex started to look around her she was amazed by all the beautiful flowers that surrounded them. it was like they were in a real field in the nature.
then she saw them: white lilies. her favourites. they were simple and delicate, just like her.
she bent a little to observe them better, but that moment was interrupted by someone.
"goodmorning you two!" the woman greeted them all of a sudden almost scaring them.
"hey, good morning, i'd like to order a bouquet of 50 red roses for a birthday, is that possible?" lex quickly asked the woman.
the sooner the better.
"of course it is, when's the date?" the woman asked with a radiant smile on her face.
"may 2nd."
"perfect, also i need the address to deliver them."
after giving all the necessary informations, the two friends thanked the woman and got out of the store. as she did that, lex let out a deep breath and felt relieved.
since she was younger, she always felt uncomfortable around strangers. she didn't do that on purpose, but usually it took some time before managing to open to people, even with her friends.
"see? it was a piece of cake." scott reassured her. "also i did a good thing by coming with you, of course you needed me."
"yeah yeah for sure, don't get big-headed." lex joked. "but thanks, i appreciated it."
scott nicely smiled at her without saying a word, then he showed his right hand, that had been hidden behind his back the whole time, but lex didn't notice.
scott handed lex a white lily.
her eyes were immediately shining, she was speechless. she was so focused on ordering her mom's gift that she didn't notice scott picking up a lily.
on the contrary, scott did notice lex's eyes as she was looking at those flowers.
"oh my god scott, how did you do that? what if she caught you?" lex asked worried.
"i don't care." scott got closer to her. " i saw the look on your face, you really liked this flower, so i thought it would make you happy."
"yes it did! thank you so much scott, it's so sweet of you." lex said as she immediately hugged him tight.
he hugged her back placing his arms around her waist and pulling her body next to his.
she had never felt like this, it was like she had been knowing him forver and felt so safe around him.
"that's why you couldn't answer to your phone???"
suddenly that sweet moment was interrupted by someone.
lex turned around to see what was wrong, of course she didn't think that crazy girl was referring to them.
of course, she was wrong.
scott looked at lex for a second, then looked at that girl and it seemed like they knew each other. they knew each other very well.
lex didn't understand what was going on, but she felt something in her stomach, something bad. as if she knew she was about to discover something that would have ruined everything.
