just a quick note before posting this chapter. in this story vinnie hacker is represented by scott's character. i wanted to try something different by giving him another name, so scott is definitely inspired by vinnie, mainly for his physical appearance, while his behaviour is completely made up by me. also, let me know what y'all think of the story so far! <3

✨✨✨✨✨

as they both were outside of the café, alexa placed the cigarette between her index and middle finger, waiting for scott to roll his own.

then she crossed her arms and without even noticing, she started admiring the way scott was carefully taking some tobacco from the bag and putting in the rolling paper.

a second later, she felt a weird but pleasant feeling. he was licking the sticky part of the paper and then, out of the blue, he got his eyes up.

alexa lost the cognition of the time, so it could have been a second or even an eternity, but there had definitely been an eye contact.

"i know what you're thinking about right now." scott placed the hand-rolled cigarette between his lips. "and you like it."

alexa blinked for a couple times and realized her jaw dropped hearing those words. what did exactly scott say? did she hear it well?

"what? i- i was just waiting for you to finish your thing." alexa tried not to stutter. "don't have weird toughts, mr. playboy."

scott smiled shaking his head, without saying anything, and then he lighted up his cigarette. seeing scott doing it reminded alexa to do the same, so she started looking for her lighter, which she always had in her bag, but apparentely she couldn't find it in that moment.

"here." alexa looked in scott's direction and he was kindly handing her his pink lighter.

alexa hinted a little smile and after using it, she handed it back: "nice choice of color."

"i know right?" scott said and he still had the lighter in his hand. "austin sometimes likes to point out how pink is a girly color, but i don't really mind about these things, you know."

if alexa already had a minimum interest in getting to know scott better, now he had all her attention.

for all her life, she grew up surrounded by males full of toxic masculinity and she had always thought there was no hope for changes, so hearing scott saying those words really made her smile and think otherwise.

"so how long have you been friends with vivi?" scott asked alexa as he was leaning on the wall behind him.

"a couple of years." alexa let the smoke out. "we've actually met in freshmen year, but we got closer the next year and since then we're inseparable, all the three of us."

"that's cool." scott nodded his head. "but how come have i not seen you, like ever? i mean, we could have met before.."

alexa was quite surprised, she opened her mouth to say something, but he interrupted her before she could.

"i mean, we all could have met before." scott probably realized what he actually said before and didn't want things to get awkward.

"uh, yeah, i don't know. maybe because we never had the chance to hang out together. i didn't know you existed and you didn't know i existed." alexa shrugged.

"true, but now we both do know..." scott threw the cigarette away. "so, sometimes we could all meet up, what do you think?"

alexa smiled. for years it had always been the three of them. alexa loved her friends, spending time together, telling secrets and gossip, but since she was a kid she had always dreamt about having a large group of friends.

and maybe it was finally time. scott was giving her the opportunity to realize her little dream.

"i would love that!" alexa said and the second after, without realizing, she was hugging him.

her arms were around his neck, while his were around her waist, holding her tightly. she enjoyed that feeling.

she really felt comfortable in his arms, protected and safe, as if they had known each other for their whole life.

this peaceful moment was unlucky interrupted by the ringtone of someone's phone.

alexa immediately thought it was hers, it was probably one of her friends or her mom, and she complained in her mind about how they chose the right time to call.

scott and alexa detached from each other as they were looking at each other confused, then they realised it was scott's phone.

he took it from the pocket of his jeans and watched it ringing for a second, maybe two. alexa did the same, that's why she could read the name of the person who was calling: mia.

she didn't know why, but a sudden feeling of jealousy took over herself. but why? she could have simply been his sister, if he had one, or his girlfriend?

"uh, i'm sorry, i-" scott started talking, but alexa interrupted him, almost annoyed.

"you can take it, i'm going inside." she said. "they're probably worried about us."

as she was opening the café door, she felt scott's hand on her arm.

"no you can stay here." he looked at her in the eyes. "i'll take it later."

before she could even have said anything, vivi, scarlett and austin got out of the café, as if they read her mind.

"what have you guys been doing all this time?" vivi asked.

"we just finished smoking, we were coming inside actually." alexa said looking at vivi.

scott didn't owe her anything, but what just happened made her feel annoyed.

she didn't know why though. after all, they had just met.

"yeah uhm we payed for you both too since we couldn't leave without paying the bill, so, scott you know what you have to do." austin said patting his back a couple of times.

"so, we had fun tonight." scarlett said. "we could meet up another time, what do you think?"

"definitely." austin agreed with her. "vivi has our numbers, so whenever you guys want to, you can call us"

"then expect a call of mine very soon." vivi chuckled. "so, it was a great night, see you another time."

alexa, vivi and scarlett greeted austin with a hug and he did the same. when it was scott's turn, he greeted vivi and scarlett in a  quick but still friendly way.

when it was alexa's turn he hugged her very tightly, just like they were before getting that call. alexa was still surprised, but didn't really show it.

"it was a pleasure meeting you, i hope to see you soon." scott almost whispered into her ear.

"for sure. i had a great time as well." alexa said enjoying the last seconds of their hug.

as they detached from each other, alexa just hinted a little smile and she was about to walk out with her best friends, when scott grabbed her hand.

"until we meet another time, take this." he said handing her his pink lighter. then he and austin walked away.

she was speechless and confused about the reason why he did it. but she didn't really mind. actually, she thought it was cute.

scott was definitely cute.
