It wasn't long before the duo retired to the Common Room and reconvened with Ron and Harry, both of whom were currently in the middle of writing predictions for Divination. Apparently, Trelawney had set them homework to predict things happening to them over the next month. Y/N personally found this ridiculous. If people could predict their next month, it would be far more widely used. And besides, wasn't the gift "incredibly rare"?
So he wasn't surprised to find the two of them making up pretty much anything that sprang to mind. To the point where they seemed to be dying roughly three times a week. Some of them twice in the same day.
'You're drowning a couple of times,' said Y/N, reading the list in front of Ron. 'Swimming lessons not going well?'
Ron quickly corrected the duplication.
'Do you not think it's a bit obvious that you've made these up?' asked Hermione as she read through Harry's page.
'Yeah, but at least we're handing something in,' said Harry, sounding very unconcerned. 'Besides, she'll probably love me saying how I'm going to die.'
'Wait, why am I on there?' asked Y/N reading Harry's list. Apparently two weeks from now, Harry was going to be "betrayed by a comrade in arms", and Y/N's name was listed as the culprit.
'Well, she doesn't like you or your mum. Extra brownie points,' smirked Harry.
'I'll make it more than a prediction in a minute, mate,' said Y/N with a glare.
'What have you two been up to anyway?' asked Ron. 'You've been dashing off to the library all the time.'
'Looking up stuff to do with House-Elves,' said Hermione. 'The way they're treated is disgusting, but sadly there's not much we can do. The ones here at least seem to be treated well, but once we're out of Hogwarts we're going to try making real strides into helping them.'
'You realise not all of them want to be helped?' asked Ron.
'We know, but that might be because they haven't known anything else. We at least want to provide the option for those who may want pay or days off. If they want to work that's their choice, but right now they don't have any other option,' said Y/N.
'I may be able to get dad to pass you over some contacts once the time comes,' said Ron brightly. 'It's a good cause so I'm sure he'd be at least willing to give you some names. Worst they can say is no.'
'That would probably go a long way, thanks Ron,' said Y/N.
'I think last year really smacked some sense into him,' whispered Hermione.
'So do I, but hey, I'm not complaining.'
All of a sudden, there was a soft tapping sound at the window, and the four of them looked around.
'Hedwig!' called Harry happily as he rushed over to the window and threw it wide. The snowy owl hopped inside with a letter tied to her leg.
Harry unwrapped the piece of parchment and read.
'Harry,
I'm flying north immediately. This news about your scar is the latest in a series of strange rumours that have reached me here, including the Dominators making a move against Y/N. If it hurts again, go straight to Dumbledore. They're saying he's got Mad-Eye out of retirement, which means he's reading the signs, even if no one else is.
I'll be in touch soon. My best to Ron, Y/N, and Hermione. Keep your eyes open, Harry.
Sirius''He's flying north?' Hermione whispered, 'He's coming back?'
'Dumbledore's reading what signs?' said Ron.
